To play brushes in jazz, you've got to be able to play the swing beat. By searching online, you'll discover that there are many approaches with but you'll struggle to find a pattern that uses only lateral (side-to-side) motions.

This may seem easy at first, but it's deceptively difficult as there are many outward strokes with the right hand. However, it's these strokes that avoid brush crashes and is vital to maintaining consistent legato sounds.

Simple and sweet brushing pattern. Also cheers for feathering the bass drum.

I like how you used tracks for the visualization. Because that's what I always think of when I hear swing brushes. The sound of a train

I’ve been trying to play jazz and for someone who has played heavy songs or just fast songs it’s so hard to try and play a gentle and kinda slow genre 😭😭😭
