I bet Sagan had a flashback of the tour at that very moment

we can clearly see that Demare crossed from one side to the other and blocked Sagan's sprint Demare is at 0:40 on the left side, 0:41 is in the middle, 0:45 is already on the right side ... Sagan tried to overtake him on the right side but when they got so close to the mantinel Sagan probably wanted to avoid what happened on the 11. etap Tour de France when he lost unfairly victory and points ... if Sagan stayed on the right side they were so close to the mantinel that it could happen that he would collide with Demar like with Van Aert and they could take his victory and points again, so he preferred not to take any risks, he slowed down the sprint and tried to overtake him from the left side - 0:59. I think Sagan was clearly blocked, and Demare should have been punished. If Sagan did this, the judges would surely take his victory and points . It's unfair ... they don't have the same meter on everyone and this is very sad and unfair . Never mind anyway Sagan is the best !!!

Peter should have nudged his way again just like in the tour. We need consistency! I think Demare was in every lane possible then left a half lane on the right. Unbelievable.

Just to add - i wish Aert will be there. I could hear him: This was so dangerous again. I felt scared! This is not fair.

Many armchair pundits here…. Anyone who already did a sprint in his life knows that when you’re sprinting head down throwing all your power into the pedals some deviation is expected.
The rule says that the riders should keep their line but there is the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. This is what UCI judges are considering and if you look at their decision in the past years you see that line deviation is rarely cause for relegation on its own. It happens sometimes when there is an incident a crash or a clear contact with another rider. It has to be particularly blatant to merit relegation. Otherwise, you would get 2 or 3 riders penalized at every sprint.
BTW Initially Demare went from right to left but in the last 100m he kept his line and Sagan had enough time and space either on the right or on the left to overtake. Sagan has shown over the years that when he got pace he doesn’t needs much room. Today he was just not fast enough.

I'm thinking about rules.. if u start your sprint in one direction/lane/line then you should not start floating to the sides, no matter to the speed of man behind you, is it right? Just asking...

so Demare held his straight line? 🤔 looks like double standard to me.

Oh. It is all good that DeMare goes from right to left. Yes - everyone now hates Sagan. Can you for a second only try to imagine - it will be DeMare behind Sagan? That will be again full internet of problems and Sagan almost DSQ and shits all over the place. But now - Sagain "again" 2nd - both on Tour and Giro. Oh - i forgot - he is always TOP 3 and they MUST ROTATE other sprinters to beat him :D. LOOOOSERS

I can easily understand why people think there are double standards between Sagan and Demare treatment. But if Demare line is not straight, he doesn't intentionally push Sagan towards the barriers. He's at full speed, following Sagan line... But because he's much speeder than the Slovak, Demare cut his line. Not especially correct but Demare was the speediest man of this sprint, again.

Has any of the guy saying Demare should be declassified ever ridden a bike ?
Just look at the tape, he choses the right line when he starts his sprint (he was sitting in the wheels beforehand) and then keeps it until the line. Sagan is just not strong enough to overtake him on this sprint

Sagan doesn’t have the legs man. What is happening with him? He ride with no intention of winning at all. Do you think that he is not fully recovered mentally and physically from his crash? Please tell me.

Don´t forget. Sagan the great. He needs a win and he will show you...

It might have been an infraction IF Sagan was actually trying to come around Demare on the right side, but Peter didn't have the legs to even try, and he knew it.

it was ok...sagan was not blocked by demare...he has not enough speed to pass demare from his windschatten

shameful finish from demare. Previous stage was excelent I admit, he has excelent form ... he deserved a win, but this one deserve same penalisation as Alaphilippe recieved during Liege-Bastonge-Liege.

I think if Sagan could win this stage, he would have tried

Demare... ha vinto una sSanremo.. cos ‘altro? L’anno scorso quasi sempre battuto al giro. Questo ‘anno? Imbattibile. Beve solo acqua? I can translate in English by saying I suspect Démare performance

Gg Arnaud, même si ce serait un poil moins malaisant de te voir gagner sans slalomer de droite à gauche, surtout quand t'es le meilleur à ce point et que t'en a pas besoin ...
