In this video we will be fixing a riding lawn mower that has sat all winter and will not start. How to start a riding lawn mower. Some of my favorite tips for starting a lawn mower that won't start. Learn how to tap the fuel solenoid and spray starter fluid into carburetor lawn mower. Where to spray starter fluid on a lawn mower. We will be using starter fluid on a riding lawn mower. The motor cranks but it does not start. The mower is a Toro Timecutter Zero Turn mower with a Kohler Courage engine but these tricks can apply to most riding lawn mowers. The first trick I use to get a mower to start is lightly tapping on the fuel solenoid, which is located right under the carburetor. The fuel solenoid is an electronic fuel shutoff switch and it can get gummed up or stuck if it has sat for a long period of time or is simply wearing out. Tapping on it while cranking the motor helps loosen the deposits inside of it and usually will allow it to open up and let the fuel flow. If this tip does not work you can also use starting fluid to help get the mower to start. Remove the air filter and spray a small amount of starting fluid in the air intake where the carburator is attached. Choke and try to start the riding lawn mower again. Hopefully these two simple tricks will solve you're problem of a no start mower and you will be back to mowing your yard in no time! This can also work on a Poulan, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, or Craftsman lawn mower that doesnt start.

Thank you sir!!! Mines was the fuel solenoid as well. Unfortunately i had to grind down 1/2 wrench to remove it, clean the pin to make sure it goes up and down freely, installed it back and it fired right up! You are the man!!
