This guy scored one of the best goals I've seen.. ran half the pitch to score against one of the best teams in the world at the time... forever remembered

Long time A.C. Milan fan here, and I can tell you that Pato is, without any doubt, the biggest regret in recent years.
The reasons for his downfall are too many to count, but if I should make a quicklist, I'd say:
1) A.C. Milan medical staff. If you compare his phisique when he arrived and when he left Milan, it's bonkers. He arrived as a really thin boy, who ran in an awkward way, he left as a bona-fide body builder, with exaggerated uppertorso muscles. Daniele Tognaccini (head of Milan medical staff) also bragged about his transformation. This inevitably put exaggerate stress on his leg muscles, and combined with the poor quality of the SerieA fields, lead to the spiral of continous injuries described in the video
2) In the great scheme of things, he was always sacrified on the pitch to allow other players play in their favorite position. He played as a Second Striker behind Inzaghi with Kakà on his side. He then played as a Right Wing to allow Ronaldinho play Left Wing and Borriello play as Forward. He played an undefined role with Ibrahimovic and Robinho (Boateng) under Allegri.
He never had the chance to play in his own proper role, and still had an amazing goal/minute ratio, which just testifies the great talent he had
3) Pato's own poor life choices. He wed Sthefany Brito in 2009 just after arriving in Milan. He divorced her right after in 2010, and being exposed to the likes of Ronaldinho and Robinho, not exactly the most professional players of all times, he became a partyboy. The fling with Barbara Berlusconi was just the cherry on top, but at that point in time it was already clear he had lost most of his love for football

Honestly, to this day, it still hurts that it ended that bad ...

I always signed this man in Fifa, he got injured too early and they ruined his progress, much like Kaka's injuries in Real Madrid.

With a net worth of $145 million and a bunch of good investments and successful businesses, I honestly don't think he minds much.

And now look at Cavani at 34...
He is a legend... someone who worked hard and stayed away from the wrong type of players!

Injuries, injuries, injuries. Milans medical team ruined him. They bulked him and then, the injuries started !!

The same thing happened with Ronaldo Phenomenon, the club doctors made them gain weight very fast not to mention that they were explosive players, the pressure on the knees is tremendous when you have to change direction extremely fast or run at an extreme speed like both. Duck's body didn't have time to adapt,
they should have given him some time to get used to his body not put him straight into the game. It's a good thing that medicine has evolved over time because we would have other Pato and Ronaldo.

He's my age, I looked up to him when he broke out to the masses back in Milan. People who didn't live through it would have a hard time understanding the amount of hype Pato had, right when social media was starting to catch on. He was INSANE and simply broke all expectations consistently, be it Serie A, Champions League, National Team games... anything. Had he not been infected by injuries, the Neymar generation would've been completely different and Brazil would've never lost their touch (the new current generation with Vini and Antony and so on is really good though). I know of many cases of "What If?!" players, but none other was a bigger What If than Alexandor Pato for me. At least he's the biggest one out of the ones that I did manage to see. Only Messi had a similar breakout into stardom in such a conving way in the past 2 decades (arguably Ronaldo fenomeno as well, but that was nearly 3 decades ago). Thanks for doing this video.

Am I the only one who loves the way this guy narrates the story ?

He doesn't need to play anymore, as he's married nowadays to the daughter of a Brazilian media mogul, Silvio Santos, who is the owner of the 2nd largest TV network in the country, SBT. Pato excelled more in being a playboy than a player and has been successful at that.

I believe his main problem was lack of discipline. If he was disciplined like Ibrahimović, Messi and Christiano Ronaldo he would still be top player in Europe wining trophies.

Too much talent for a human body to take. He was born with a gift that we weren’t ready to witness in full spectacle.

I know exactly how he feels about his thigh. The same happened to me through the NHS. Mad how a professional football club has such negligence especially of Milan’s calibre

Pato has never been the "Next Ronaldo", since the only two things they had in common were the agility and injuries. Still a magnificent player, though
