Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin held his first news conference Thursday since he was hospitalized for complications from surgery to treat prostate cancer earlier this month. Austin and the Pentagon received criticism for not immediately disclosing his hospital stay to the White House and the public. Austin apologized for keeping his hospitalization a secret, adding "I did not handle this right."

This is what incompetence and affirmative action gets you!

Minimize casualties means more meaningless strikes

This is what happens with DEI hire, otherwise known as affirmative action?

This is what happens when lobbyists become secretaries. Austin should resign in shame.

What are the instructions on this from Valerie Jarrett?

This man is a disgrace. He valued his privacy over the security of his country. He would resign if he had any honor.

Lloyd Austin is a fricking affirmative action, unqualified, the worst DoD secretary ever!

This guy is such a tool. In other words, the perfect Biden appointee.

He took full responsibility, what more does anyone want?

Thanks for not answering the question.

You can't blame him for staying silent. As a cancer patient I can assure you that a positive diagnosis puts you in a state of total shock at first. It takes a while to come to terms with the situation.

Praying for your fast and full recovery sir .

Now we need Biden to apologise for not disclosing his medical conditions

Give the man a break, he is a human, and needed a moment to digest the shock, it is not like he fell off the end of the planet for ever

"Full responsibility" would be him resigning and escorted out of his office by security for being such an incompetent failure. No wonder military recruitment is down, who would want go fight under President Dementia and secretaries like this clown?

I feel sorry for any man falling victim to any cancer. This is a terrible disease. I wish the gentleman well and long life. 🙏🏻

Compare Sec Austin to the "best and the brightest" (cf, book by David Halberstam) who preceded him. McNamara, for example. I could name others. Austin's far from perfect. But, IMO, he has his feet on the ground. And, I'm grateful for a humble SecDef vs an arrogant d-bag.

he needs to be fired. you are in a sensitive position and didn't tell your boss.
Defense Sec. Austin apologizes for handling of cancer diagnosis: 'I should have told the president' - again that would get most of us sh1tcanned.

Why tf does it matter. My grandmother had stage 4 lung cancer. Never smoked. And still kept it hidden. Let that man live people. Focus on the bigger problems
