This video is part of the 30 videos in 30 days challenge for the month of November 2022. In today's shootout, we are comparing the fuzz tones from the Fender Hammertone Fuzz, which retails for $79.99 USD, with the Vahlbruch Octavia which retails for $203 USD.
Fuzz is a very polarizing effect. Some love it and other loath it. Both the Octavia and Hammertone fuzz offer some great fuzz tones. The Fender is a silicone based fuzz, which sounds to me very Fuzz Face-ish. The Vahlbruch is a Germanium Fuzz Face with all the qualities you would expect from this circuit.
I am using my trusty Vox AC15c1, loaded with a Celestion Greenback, mic'ed with a Shure SM57.
