President-elect Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post he will enact a 25% tariff on “ALL products coming into the United States, and it’s ridiculous Open Borders,” specifically from neighbors Canada and Mexico, as one of his first executive orders. Trump has previously threatened similar tariffs on imports from China.

You've got to admit, a majority of the country voting for a man because of the
"price of goods are too high", only for him to increase prices on his first day in office, has to be regarded as one of the greatest social experiments of all time.

Mexican here, we will be putting tariffs on American products, no doubt about it. This is a loss for all of North America.

And so it begins. Please educate yourself on what the word tariff means. Canada and Mexico will not pay anything extra to send products here. The importer pays the tariff and then passes that cost on to the consumer. We the people will be paying more for those products.

Welcome to the Second American Great Depression. It's like Trump is channeling the spirit of Herbert Hoover

When your gas prices go up now you know. Canada won't lay down. Nor should they. They will just do business with the Europeans instead.

I'm a Canadian. Let`s bear in mind a few things. We provide you with 60% of your oil imports. Our auto industry is joined at the hip. You import vast amounts of softwood lumber from Canada to build your houses. If you think inflation was bad a couple years ago wait until you have to start paying tariffs on all this stuff. And then, of course, Canada will have to retaliate and impose tariffs on US imports. We are your largest single export market. 9 million US jobs depend on exports to Canada,
No one wins a trade war.

Let me explain how Tariffs work again. They are charge at the point of entry to the company that is importing the goods. Then passed onto consumers. I've been stock piling things for months now

Does that include Canadian oil and gas? Canada exports 97% of its crude oil to the U.S

Remember the last terrible trade war and nothing on shelves and caused inflation daily

It’s funny how people voted for Trump blaming the inflation while picking the exact guy that will make everything a lot worse

I guess "FREE TRADE" is dead. Time for Canada and Mexico to become self-sustainable.
