The 81-year US president Joe Biden insists he won't quit the electoral race but the concerns of his former boss and friend could prove the breaking point.

Former US president, Barack Obama says Joe Biden should "consider his viability".

Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, are both reported to have met him individually to express concerns.

Meanwhile, former speaker Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden's long-time friend and ally, had already urged him to step aside.

Mr Biden is taking a break from the campaign while he recovers from COVID.

I know judges in the UK must retire at 75. There should be a law that politicians must retire at the same time and no leader should be over seventy. The ideal age for a leader is 40-60. Crazy that the USA has two ancient candidates, where are all the young politicians?

His competence was questioned at the last election. He's gradually degraded over the past 4 years and he will acutely degrade over the next 4. I'd be surprised if he was to be re-elected if he saw the end of his term alive, let alone competent.
