"Proof" is a Pulitzer & Tony award winning play by the American playwright David Auburn. It tells the story of Catherine, the daughter of a recently deceased mathematical genius, and her struggle with mathematical genius and mental illness. Catherine had cared for her father through a lengthy mental illness. Upon Robert's death, his former graduate student Hal discovers a paradigm shifting proof about prime numbers in Robert's study that Catherine claims is hers. The play explores Catherine's fear of following in her father's footsteps, both mathematically and mentally and her desperate attempts to stay in control.
The play is in aid of Suchetadhama, which is an organisation that is a registered not-for-profit Trust set up to provide sustained and multi-faceted support that caters to the needs of persons with dementia and other neuro-degenerative illnesses and their families and caregivers. Raising awareness about age-related diseases and advocacy on behalf of elderly is one of the primary objectives of the organization."
