The one suggestion to insure is the overflow stand pipe is cut to the proper height. If it is not, you can have a issue with overflow leaking through the flush lever. Just a thought! Thanks for the information.

MUCH easier to replace the broken overflow tube with the same length 3/4 inch PVC pipe. No PVC cement used or needed. Remove remaining broken pieces with a small screwdriver and twist the new pipe in. Easy, cheap, and stronger than new. Don't overthink this.
