‘Freeze The Frame’ is the song that inspired the entire project. The song is written by Michael with Award-winning songwriter, Tony Wood. ‘Freeze the Frame’ is one of those melodies that is destined to be a playlist favorite for this and many Christmases in the future as it paints a picture that we have all felt of moments that we wish we could just hit pause and live in for a bit longer. During the Christmas season, that is particularly poignant.

ABOUT THE NEW CHRISTMAS EP:
Michael W. Smith returns with a heartfelt Christmas EP inspired by thoughts of Christmases past and future. “Christmas at Home” features 6 brand new Christmas standards that will awaken the listener’s Christmas memories and remind them why we celebrate this most beautiful of seasons. The EP started with the song Freeze The Frame, written by Michael W. and Tony Wood painting pictures of family moments around the holidays where we all just wish everything would just slow down so they could be enjoyed just a bit longer. Once that song was written, the others just flowed out of Michael and inspired him to bring his kids and, at the time, 16 grandchildren (recently grown to 17 with the addition of Owen in September 2022). As the final project came together five of the six songs on the EP ended up featuring multiple collaborations with his children. We are excited for you to hear it.

I have got to honestly say that's my all time favorite song that Michael does. The saddest part that it makes me remember that there's very little members left of my family anymore. Just me, my sister and all the children.

This song moved me to tears. Having lost my last set of Grandparents a few years ago, this makes me miss them. I miss the way things used to be. Both sides of my family have changed since all my grandparents passed away. They were the glue that kept everyone together, Christmas hasn't been the same.
