In your second example you assign a javascript object to module.exports. Module.exports already references module1.js though, with the same property names. I guess the second assigment will be the final one and it is indeed the one that you use in onRequest. Therefore you get the console output "Exported". Seems logical, I'm just not sure why you left both require lines in!

Can you explain a bit further regarding why it is called twice as it seems the functions from your own modules are only being called 1 time

i am not using any ide to manage files so how i will run them on server.I executed the very first application but now how would i run the modules together. Is there any command for that. Also my terminal is stuck at "node server.js" command .what to do ?

I cannot agree; @ 9:58 IMHO it makes better sense, and is much clearer to use the callback arrangement.
