8 Things You’re Doing Wrong When Driving Fast

Показать описание
You might find yourself driving fast if you’re late for work, need to be on time for an appointment, or want to get to your destination as quickly as possible. Even if you stay under the speed limit, there are certain things that can put you at risk of an accident and should be avoided.

For instance, blaring out your favorite songs while driving fast might not be such a good idea. A 2013 study conducted at Ben-Gurion University in Israel tested 85 teenagers on their driving skills while listening to music. While listening to their favorite songs, 98% of them made errors. While listening to easy-going music like soft rock or jazz, only 77% of them made mistakes. If you’re driving fast, it’s best to keep the radio off. If you wanna learn how you can drive fast and be a responsible driver for yourself, your passengers, and other cars in the vicinity, watch our new video!

SUMMARY:
- If your airbag is deployed while you are turning your wheel with an incorrect movement, the force of the airbag could send your hand flying into your face and cause serious damage.
- Coasting can be accomplished by holding down the clutch pedal or setting the car’s gear in neutral.
- In a 6-second period, drivers who text take their eyes off the road for 4.6 seconds, in which time a pedestrian could cross the road, traffic could come to a full stop, or an animal could get in the way.
- A study conducted at Memorial University of Newfoundland found that listening to loud music can slow down someone’s reaction time by 20%.
- Loud music isn’t the only thing that can distract you! Your favorite songs (at a normal volume) can also do the trick.
- The recommendation is to double or even triple your distance between cars. A good way of judging this distance is if the car ahead of you passes a landmark, it should take 6 seconds before you pass it.
- When the weather gets bad, like when it’s raining or when a huge amount of falling snow threatens your visibility, it’s time to slow down. Unfortunately, not everyone does that.
- If you hold the steering wheel with one hand or hold it lower than recommended (perhaps at the “8 and 4 o’clock” positions), this will lessen your control of the car.

Hey there! What's your average speed when you're driving?

Keeping your eyes on the road is very true. If you get distracted for even 1sec, something random can happen for sure.

This whole vid is so wrong, it’s painful!
I‘m from Germany, we drive 140+mph every day to work.
8.) Hand position: 9/3 yes, but how would you possibly CROSS your hands at high speed?!? You only use that at tight turns in very slow city situations, like parking etc.
7.) coasting: same. You’d put a car in neutral at high speed?!? Total BS
6.) Eyes on road: Who in their right mind would take their eyes off the road for 4.6 sec.? That’s 1.600 yds travelled, at only 75 mph. If you really do that, you deserve the Darwin award (look that one up)
5.) „distracted driving“: Kinda agree with the point in general, but, really, look up 170db. No way any stereo does that.
3.) distance: 2 sec rule is just fine. 6 sec, again, at 60 mph equals 0.1 mls or 176 yrd. Show me anybody who keeps almost 2 football distance at that “speed”. Again, if your reaction time is 3 seconds, better stay at home, for everybody’s sake.
2.) bad weather: Really? In snow, it’s slippery? Duh. And, in dry conditions, at 60 mph, a car breaks in 100ft, not 240. If you can’t do that, again, stay at home or learn to do it.
1.) see 8.)
Complete and utter nonsense.

Extra tip: when you're driving above 60mph don't steer fast cause that could get the car to loose control or possibly starts flipping.

Is it considered fast if you always drive “fast”

Here's mine:

Do not alter the way you drive, when you're near a semi. Most people are scared of driving near a semi so they suddenly speed up, slow down, change lanes, or otherwise drive unpredictably. Being unpredictable is what makes driving near a semi dangerous. Remember: the average semi driver will have much, much more experience on the road than the average non commercial driver.

This vid is for someone who has no experience in driving. Judgement and skills improves over time.

I started leaving the amount of distance you recommended between myself and the vehicle ahead of me but cars kept cutting into the space, so I would fall back from them. After awhile I was back where I started. I didn't give up though. Now I just go in the opposite direction of my destination and sooner or later I get where I wanted to go.

When the car is travalling fast down hill, take your foot of the throttle pedal. When the engine is above 1200rpm and the throttle closed the ECU will turn off the supply to the fuel pump until the engine rpm falls back below 1200 rpm or when you put your foot back on the throttle pedal. Thus you can save fuel and stay legal and safe. Also slow down earlier to lessen the need to use brakes, taking your foot of the gas pedal. You will GoD willing reduce fuel consumption.

I am not a driver due to a disability issue, but I have been behind the wheel of plenty of go-carts. Same rules should naturally apply. What I am grateful for is being able to master the concept of coasting. The way most turns are set up, is the center lane, which is always a left turn, or the right lane, which is usually either the 'quick right' at the intersection, or the designated right lane created by the road design. As a by-stander, or pedestrian, I've seen way, way too many people mess up on the left turn, or, like you said, drivers that either aren't paying attention, or shouldn't be behind the wheel. It's been said that the state of Washington on track level, is one of the worst states to drive in, and I completely agree w this statement.

I was always driving in 9 and 3 position .. but in the background I switch too 10 and 2 once I realise, as I was told it is recommended, now that I know it is the recommended one I can drive more confident as it is what I am used too 😊👍 thank you for the useful information

Go on an advanced driving course or track session with a professional driver, they may teach you to drive fast, but you will probably drive slower afterwards - because most people then realise they are not as good a driver as they think they are.
