The Festival of Saint Anthony in the Alfama neighborhood, Lisbon, Portugal. The Saint Anthony's Festival, also known as the Lisbon Festivities or Popular Saints Festival, is an annual celebration to honor Saint Anthony of Padua, or Santo Antonio of Lisbon, as he is known in Portugal.
The streets of Lisbon come alive during the Saint Anthony festivities, with numerous street parties and outdoor gatherings known as "arraiais" taking place across the city. People gather in the streets to socialize, dance to traditional music, and enjoy traditional Portuguese food and drinks, especially grilled sardines.
The festivities take place throughout the month of June, with the peak of the celebrations occurring on the evening of June 12th and continuing into the early hours of June 13th, which is Saint Anthony's feast day.
