Crochet It Creations is hosting the Textured Fun Blanket Crochet Along (CAL) and you are invited to join in! Each week for 6 weeks I will release a new textured fun square to make!

This is Square 2 of the CAL - the Waffle Stitches. Stitches used are double crochet and front post double crochet to create the waffle look. Techniques used is a foundation double crochet rows and chainless starting double crochet.

Materials needed are an J 6mm Crochet Hook for this square, an I 5.5mm hook will be needed for other squares. Medium weight yarn will be used. I used Big Twist Yarn (6oz/170g, 371yds/339m) found at Joann's in the colors Medium Teal, Medium Grey, Soft Grey, and White. 2 skeins of each color to complete the throw blanket, if using 4 colors and Big Twist Yarn. Plus 1 additional skein to sew squares together and complete the border. Or about 3300 yards for the throw blanket, which measures approximately 50" x 60".

Each square for the 6 squares of the Textured Fun Square Sampler Blanket Crochet Along will be released on Thursdays Sept 5 - Oct 10. With construction released on Oct 17 and the Border on Oct 24 to wrap up the CAL.

Working through this a few years later and these videos are so helpful, thank you! I’m a beginner-ish so I’ve had to look a few things up separately but it’s fun to learn so many new techniques.

I love these squares so far! I thought the first square was 13 rows but that didn't make sense for this one....how many rows should the squares be?

I'd say any beginners watching should probably slow down the playback speed if they need to see it to understand the pattern and where the dcs should be. I'm a visual learner but my familiarity with dcs and post stitches made that less of a problem; I had listen rather than watch. The theory is so similar to the basket weave that I've done in the past, so this wasn't at all a difficult pattern. It's definitely beginner friendly.

Great pattern but for someone who is just learning how to crochet would't be able to follow your step by step because you are going way to fast. I can follow you but for someone who is just learning you might want to make a video where you are doing it a little slower thank you and have a great day

Way too fast. Thats why I like fiber spider and bag a day, they go slower. Some people just cant go that fast. I hate slowing video then I cant understand what she is saying.

You were going way too fast especially when showing how to do the foundation row, no clue where you were putting the stitch. You should of done a close up of where to do those stitches on a couple.
The foundation row is such a good idea as you can always add more unlike making a chain and realising you’ve made too many, or worse too few.

You need to slow you stitching down. Even with my years of crocheting I had to guess how to do the first row
