You forgot to mention the distance of rope you loose with increase the number of pulleys.

Cheer~~a wheel with a grooved rim around which a cord passes. It acts to change the direction of a force applied to the cord and is chiefly used (typically in combination) to raise heavy weights.😊

One significant problem people encounter with cable weights at the gym is their frequent incorporation of pulleys. The reason behind this is unclear to me and seems illogical. When pulleys are involved, you must adjust the weight you're accustomed to lifting based on the number of pulleys. For instance, if you can lift 30kg on a machine with a 1 to 1 ratio, and then use another machine with a 1 to 2 pulley system (consisting of one fixed and one movable pulley), you'll need to lift 60kg to achieve the same effect. Furthermore, some machines, like those in my gym, feature one fixed and two movable pulleys, necessitating a tripling of the weight to 90kg. This setup seems nonsensical to me. If you're effectively loading 90kg onto the cable, the machine and cable should be capable of handling that weight directly. Why not design it with a 1 to 1 ratio, allowing users to increase the weight as needed without the complication of pulleys? This approach would be more straightforward and practical.

What if you’re trying to lift an immovable object with an unstoppable force? But the ceiling isn’t strong enough to hold up the pulley?

Best explaination in plain english for pullies. I had a science teacher explain it almost exactly like this.

1st one was fixed pulley and the others were movable hope this helped

If the first scenario all of the weight is transferred to you what is the weight the pulley bears
taccophobia
Yea ill stop you right there. You have explained the concept of why you have pullys. You havent explained at all how the pullys change where the work is being done.

Wait, the first one…isn’t the “weight” or more precisely the force required to lift, halved by a pulley? Pulling the entire weight would be no pulleys, and the person pulling positioned where the one pulley is, above the object. 🤔

Why dont they teach this in school. im taking a test for a trade and i dead ass get confused on them. Bravo thanks.

First pull is actually half the weight. Then so on...
