Discussing the final chapter, 108, of Houseki no Kuni, and my explanation for the meaning of the ending. I discuss my theory for the significance of the "Dawn Flower" in the final chapter and its link to the comet.

A detail I forgot to mention is someone said the paradise is probably called, "Lili" after Pebble's song.

After reading, I can now sleep peacefully knowing that my beloved Phos will no longer experience anymore hardships

Chapter 108: "OG Phos is good enough?"
Readers: "Always has been"

The way you described the ending brought back to mind my favourite quote from Undertale:
"Despite everything, it's still you."

I have a gripe with this woman because even in the every lAST CHAPTER, SHE TOOK A BAT AND SAID " *ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD* " AND FUCKING SHATTERED PHOS ONE LAST TIME

The Buddhist flower symbolism means there's only one degree of separation between adorable Phos and the nightmare fuel that is Shara Ishvalda.

wait, so all the characters became flowers? I actually drew some characters as flowers a year ago. A prophetic doodle

i love how much houseki, a manga you assume is just about pretty gem people, is actually one of the most deep stories on human nature and desire, and the lengths we'll go

thank you for bringing up the stones on the spines of the books, totally forgot about those, and it legit made me start tearing up as the neurons finally connected because I was really confused about how to interpret those panels

As a person with mental disease I would like to thank you for the beautiful analisys and for the hopeful mesage. The fact that Phos constant journey of "improvement" was the reason itself por deep suffering is extremely touching because its the final proof that happiness actually resides in accepting oneself and in being part of a community that also does it (I think in buddhism it translates as Sangha). Thank you again for the delicate analysis and words - I hope that like Phos we can connect at our most vulnerable states and celebrate the gift of existing, despite the hardships in our lives.

I like this take on the ending. so much stuff coming together the comets/shooting stars, adamant showing phos' eye to the ice flows, the flower gems it all makes sense. I have to admit the end of this manga has left a bit of a void on one hand I understand the themes and messages but on the other I wish we had a proper reunion for everyone and closure. Its weird despite the uplifting message/symbolism I don not feel good at all after that ending. Probably reading such an existential series while depressed wasn't my best life choice.

I spent all day thinking about the ending of houseki no Kuni, right now I'm going through something very difficult in my life I felt like this would never end, The feeling of being destroyed by my own mind, the fear of lose everything and cannot be able to draw anymore... I feeling lighter now, things can get better, thanks for the video

It seems you can still watch the Phos commet this weekend for anyone that just wants to try, the beautiful mint-colored comet Pons-Brooks-Pons will be visible this year for the first time in about 70 years (perihelion is April 2024). Ichikawa-sensei may have also "finished it on schedule" in line with this...

You just blew my mind w the buddhist universe/flower connection. Especially 17:40 and on.. wow. And it makes sense since we saw phos watching the 'comet'. Beautiful analysis and message

I think the gem blooming might just be one of the gems being reincarnated, so all of them will end up in that garden

Wow! I had no idea that those flowers are universes of people’s souls! You made the last chapter more emotional for me as I didn’t cry when I read the last chapter, but you had to add more emotional meaning, because now I’m crying as I watched this video and thought about Phos’ journey.
Brongo! It’s very sad that he died, but at least he can rest in peace. His poem is fantastic.
This is a very emotional journey that I took, and I’m glad that phos got their bittersweet ending. May the new era prosper.

Hoseki no Kuni will be roulding around my mind for years. I feel I don't fully understand the emotions this manga is trying to transmit, forgivness being the most important.
Your videos helped me to understand a bit better this piece of art. Thank you and I wish you have a good day.

i also was curious about which gem phos was interested in and wanted to get closer. i thought it was cinnabar at first, checked reddit discussions and they were supporting my theory; but the gem shape doesn't really add up. thank you for your deep analysis video! it really helped me comprehend the chapter more in depth.

It’s so beautiful how it ended, and looking at the last panel I 100x believe your theory abt the gems on the spines because I saw a few of the same gems
