I always headcanon that Godzilla’s loss against the ancient Kong mirrored his victory against the modern one, but with the roles reversed: The young and inexperienced kaiju bit off more than he could handle when tangling with the older and battle-hardened rival. The ancient Kong had his foot on Godzilla’s chest, pinning him. And the rival roared, a blatant attempt to force the other to submit. And the younger Godzilla, wounded and afraid, did. He stayed silent and slinked off, tail between his legs. His anger grew at the hit his ego took, and he made sure he would never be humbled again. And that’s why he gave Kong the nod after he roared back: Unlike Godzilla, Kong refused to submit when faced with certain death and remained king.

Actually it was when Godzilla tried to use his distance advantage, he was taken down by Kong. I bet the fight Godzilla had with the ancient rival was where he learned how to combat them up close. That's when Godzilla outclassed Kong is when the fighting got close.

So a younger less experienced godzilla challenged a seasoned kong and lost, only for the reverse to happen in godzilla vs kong thousands of years later.

I must agree with most everyone else Godzilla was much younger at that time and clearly not at full power. One indicator for this is the fact it is shown that in ancient times there was a flourishing settlement there and now in modern times it has all been swept out to sea or sunken. That indicates a very long time has passed since Godzilla lost to this ape.

Ngl kinda would be cool if we got a primal like show for the MV showing the war and what it was like with monsters roaming the earth. Plus a main reason godzilla lost to scar( pretty much that kongs name.) was because at the time he was young and that Kong that he faced was more experienced than he was at the time.

0:40 Godzilla was younger back then in some cases. No doubt he looked like how he was back in 2014 but probably wasn't as experienced with fighting other monsters until after the war with the Kong's

He was younger and weaker at the time he lost to that Kong, Greg Keyes also hinted it may have taken more than one Kong to drive the younger and weaker Godzilla out. Plus this took place before the GVK ancient war (which Godzilla himself participated in).

In Dominion, even in his starving and weakened state, Godzilla was actually confident that he would’ve beaten that Kong.

I can only theorize that Godzilla may have lost due to being unprepared for this Kong’s fighting prowess. He underestimated it’s strength, ended up being outmatched and got driven away.

According to the Godzilla vs Kong novelization, it is stated that this specific Godzilla is the Titan that killed the majority of Kong’s species and drove them out of the Hollow Earth into skull island. It also brings up the idea that other Godzillas couldn’t use the atomic breath, since it says that this Godzilla “ate a star” and that’s when the Kongs started losing the war.

Godzilla losted to this ancient Kong because he was inexperienced and young at the time and was not powerful as yet.But with that lesson Godzilla knew how to deal with Kong in 2024.

I'd throw a nod to the first fight between King Kong and Godzilla. I'd say this Kong possessed an ability the Kong of today hasn't yet learned to use. He has the power of electricity. A very powerful electric force that he can wield as a weapon or in defense. Much like electric eels that have stacks of electrocytes in their body to shock their prey so to do the Kong's. All through their bodies and can generate an immense amount of power as well as store energy from lighting strikes or other sources of electricity.

I think this kong fought in the ancient War with the Godzilla species or he could have been the alpha kong in the hollow earth temple he is probably the same one who build the axe and killed a gojira species all on his own making him an experience fighter
