Analogue NT Mini Noir Impressions

While the Analogue NT Mini Noir had a very limited run and is currently discontinued, I do recommend picking one up if you are able to find it for an affordable price. It is the best way to play NES games on modern hardware! Join me as I share my impressions of the console.

I think you pause on controller 1, then use a button combo on controller 2 to pull up the save menu. Great video! Happy New Year.

I got a Super NT for Christmas and love it. I'm gonna have to pick up a Mini Noir in the near future. Nice review!

This was a great video my friend. Back in the early 1990’s.. there was a kiosk (not a store) called “World of Nintendo” at Metrotown Mall in Burnaby BC Canada. Since I travelled 4 hours to get there.. I saw nothing that I wanted to buy. I ended up buying Chester Cheetah on the SNES for $119 Canadian. This was back when new games were $59. I wasted my hard earned money on a crappy game. Lesson Learned.

The great thing about the Sony triniton crt as it’s quite easy to fix and components are easy to find.
Unlike modern flat screen TVs where you might as well buy a new one if it breaks.
That’s our throw away culture.
Plus older games were designed around the curvature of a crt so you loose some of the Magic of retro games played through a flat screen.
I totally get why people buy these for convenience but for the price you could buy a number of crts and consoles for that price.
Not for me, I’ll always play retro games on a crt.
Nice video as always.

1:38 - I saw that console in the Angry Video Game Nerd's review of the Dennis the Menace SNES game.

You can get one direct from Analogue today if you hurry. As of 3:30 CST April 9, 2021 there are still some in stock. I grabbed one this morning. They are not selling out near as fast as I expected.

This consul is awesome. The jailbreak allows you to play Genesis games but unfortunately (I don’t know why) the jailbreak doesn’t support a super NES core.

Loved seeing one of the dogs asleep on the couch when the TV was switching over.

I never heard of these consoles before your recent videos. I'm learning to program FPGAs in my classes now - you basically design a processor or chip on your computer, send the design to the FPGA chip, and the transistors in the FPGA will switch themselves on or off in a way to make the design a reality. It is possible to even update the "hardware" to fix issues with games or add more functionality by only sending a new design to the FPGA. The technology is fascinating and seeing it used to revive classic consoles is very cool.

Have you tried using the HDMI & the Component cables at the same time? I've wondered if that's a good setup for CRT gaming.

Cool that you covered it on your channel, cause I would never ever bought it. Emulation is emulation whatever the package is and however big is the bow on it and it's not cool, unless those analogue guys have any sort of agreement with Nintendo. Which I doubt immensely (that Nintendo sent them cpu architecture blueprints for the business to move forward) considered the secretive nature of Nintendo.
