Girl Scouts Love State Parks ARRL Badge 4K

YCARS (York County Amateur Radio Society) members assist in teaching Brownies and Daisies about Radio. As well we assisted the Girl Scouts in getting their ARRL Ham Radio Badge.

A special thanks to all the Park Rangers out there that help facilitate these events.

It was a whole lotta fun! With so many opportunities in Ham Radio, it's the best hobby in the world.

Watch the faces on the girls. The tin can and a string telephones, balloons covers on cans for resonator, phonetic alphabet deciphers.... all of it. My eyes water as I see them learning and enjoying it all. The copper pipe with a magnet representing Lenz's Law was a big hit. It was given to me by Dr. Cathy Freeman, PhD, the major contributor to the initial ARRL Radio patch curriculum. I had an oscillator and a set of paddles for the ones that were interested in CW. Izzy and a couple of her friends had already delved into learning this on their own. What a joy!! More to come. Beautiful.
