The address to the lateral entry students of the engineering departments, acknowledging the unique challenges they face joining directly into the second year of their studies. Coming from a diploma background, students often find themselves adapting to a different mindset and learning environment a bit challenging but I highlighted the importance of this transition.

Also, emphasized that engineering is not just about implementation but a comprehensive process involving Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Testing. Students were encouraged to focus particularly on the Design phase, as it plays a critical role in solving complex engineering problems. Moving forward from a diploma-oriented approach, they were urged to build a strong foundation in analysis and design, which will set them on a path to innovation and success.
The need for continuous upskilling during their academic journey was also insisted. Recognizing the challenges of starting late, we assured students of the academic flexibilities available to them, such as registering for fewer subjects to ensure they progress at a comfortable pace.
Finally, the importance of reaching out for guidance, whether from peers, faculty, or mentors, to navigate challenges and stay on the right path was stressed upon.
