In my personal case, resistance training and running helped me a lot to increase power, speed and endurance

I was just wondering about this the other day. I haven’t been doing Muay Thai long but definitely noticed when the better guys in the gym hit the bag it’s way harder than I can even if I look physically stronger

Another thing Cus D'Amato taught was L shift to avoid punches setting up the hard body/head hook, uppercuts, but if you ask Iron Mike he'll tell you its all about the straight right

All good points! Thank you! For me, torque and pulling the punch gives the most power. Also, punching like a pitcher throwing a baseball will generate a lot of power.

Great tips here - thank you!
I'm sure some gyms out there have this, but I'd love to see a hanging heavy bag set up on a rail, so as you start working it it naturally starts sliding away from you (along the rail). Would make for excellent practice with pressing in on an opponent, and keeping in the pocket as they backpedal.

I suspect the reason some of us have trouble progressing forward after the initial movement is that we spend too much time practicing on heavy bags, where it's not possible to keep moving forward.

I think you left off one thing. That's explosive lateral movement -- being able to suddenly shift and get outside the adversary's shoulder. Things always seem more explosive when they're coming from unexpected angles.
