Nuclear energy 'gets rid' of additional costings

Nuclear for Climate Australia Founder Robert Parker says nuclear “get rid” of additional costs.

Peter Dutton's argument of nuclear power being the best replacement for coal has been dismissed by the Australian Energy Market Operator as too expensive and slow.

“When we look at the cost of energy, we’ve got to consider with nuclear that is all up system cost,” Mr Parker told Sky News Australia,

“Nuclear gets rid of all those costs of additional transmission, all those batteries and all those bits.”

Let's just remove the moratorium and get some real costings on nuclear instead of the biased guesswork from the likes of AEMO and CSIRO.

The refoolable geniuses didnt take into acount the costing of solar panel replacement evertime there is a HAIL STORM.

Ah.
20 megawatts of solar generation and 20 megawatts of wind generation of electricity vs. a 20 megawatts of nuclear generation of electricity when turned on for example.
Which one will generate more electricity in a year? Be more reliable? Be a better return investment?
It is a simple intelligence test.

Bowels display in QT yesterday was so disingenuous, he knows darn well the decentralised renewable projects in remote areas requires substantial costs for grid connection, that’s not required with more centralised larger capacity generation

The brunt of the cost of nuclear will be tax payers. Replace the coal fired locations with nuclear and all the infrastructure is there. The renewable are in the bush. You need to install transmission power lines and the solar panel need to be replaced every 15 years. 7 years all the blades need to be replaced on the fans. You tell me what more expensive!

FYI: I live off grid using renewables. There are no batteries in existence that can store the power required to run Australia. It can never happen with renewables only. I can guarantee that if the country relies on batteries we will end up with a toxic metal battery/solar panel graveyard larger than any nuclear disposal site on the planet.

Energy security in Australia can only be achieved by Australians. We have the resources for nuclear self-sufficiency to power our country for thousands of years, or we can outsource our power generation to overseas investors by purchasing over $1 trillion of consumable renewables every decade.

We need to stop giving away our money, these foreign investors have stolen too much already. If you could profit billions by selling another country it's power; would you do it? Because that's what we're dealing with. And for everything Labor promises; it doesn't show on the average Australian's bills. What they said in parliament the other day was "look around your payment's & you might find an extra fifty bucks somewhere, or probably next week"...

I live in Tassie. We voted out the circus. Even the Greens fled to inner city Melbourne... If the mainland doesn't vote these traitors out; the country will end up screwed & we may have to part ways to become the Republic of Tasmania. That would be a sad day, don't force us to do it.

We need more sane debate like this and not the bias misleading garbage being leveled at us by commercial media. We know Labor is in trouble when they resort to name calling and personal attacks.

AEMO is misleading everyone with its response as it is pricing new nuclear power station construction whereas the Dutton proposal clearly states that the first power stations are to be the OLD COAL power stations with the coal boilers removed and then fitted with SMRs, (as the heat source alone), which can be manufactured offsite, (in a factory), and then delivered to site for installation and commissioning. AEMO and ANYONE else, (including Skynews), who reports that the proposed nuclear installations will take decades and cost 100s of billions of dollars is DELIBERATELY misrepresenting the truth or a DELIBERATE LIAR! Too many people in Australia are suffering from brain atrophy and seem unable to be able to navigate the internet for themselves. The ABC is a foreign agency spewing woke propaganda, (against the national unity and interests), and it seems a lot of public servants have stopped thinking about anything except for their own self interest and HIGH PAYING government jobs. Let Defense run the power stations because if they act against the national interest they can be imprisoned or worse, (during wartime).

Storage. Unless it's a large hydro dam any talk of storage is bullshit. Those massive electrical storage batteries being touted are good for an hour at most and they are constantly degrading.

Go " noook-leear", it cant cost as much as one trillion to set up😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

So how is it that processing yellow cake for nuclear grade fuel rods, shutting down reactors every 1.5 to 2 years for maintenance, replacing, fuel rods and expensive worn components and managing the highly toxic waste not an extra cost. The coalition are treating listeners like fools. Google IAEA reactor maintenance and see the real cost.

Higher transmission costs = higher daily supply charges.
More renewables = more volatility = higher prices.

The "problem of waste" what a joke there's VIRTUALLY NONE all the world's nuclear waste from ALL THE NUCLEAR PLANTS IN THE WORLD DOESNT FILL 2 OLYMPIC SWIMMING POOLS, LABOUR IS RUNNING A SCARE CAMPAIGN BASED ON CHERNOBYL IN THE 1980's which is where & when they live😂😂😂

Sky, jumping on the anti nuclear band wagon. Not reading your audience very well. Perhaps your taking lessons from Albo on that front.

SMR, small modular reactors. The only sensible, cost-effective energy solution.

Nuclear is more than 90% efficient and Nuclear waste can be used again to make power, technology from the 60's that works and is very safe.

Free Batteries and free solar for every house. Problem solved. Nuclear power in 15 years wow thats really going to help 😂😂😂

Like wind farms are going to pick up the slack. Its either nuclear or fossil fuels. Pick one.

Maybe if we didn't bring in 100's X 1000's immigrants there could be enough renewable power? Just a thought.

No it doesn't it replaces those costs with newer more expensive costs, Bob.
