Cooking Perfect Grass Fed Steak in the Skillet - Beef Hacks with Michelin-starred Chef Kelly McCown

Restaurant quality steaks at home in a skillet. Here’s how.

What is the secret to a steak that tastes like it came from a fancy restaurant? Butter.
More on that in a second. First up, pre-heat a skillet on medium-high heat with a drizzle of rice bran oil or any oil with a high smoke point and add a bit of butter to start the caramelization. Place the steak in the pan and tilt the pan so the oil gets around and under the steak. Once you have a nice sear, add a generous amount of butter and be sure to coat the steak with the melted gold. It’s as simple, and tasty, as that.

Best to use ghee for oil. Seed oils shouldn't be eaten, especially with nutritious grass fed beef. Good to see a grass fed beef channel.

Just like the others said, you should not ever use seed oils on a grass-fed, grass-finished beef. The whole purpose of eating grass-fed, grass-finished beef is to be healthy. Adding seed oils makes it unhealthy. Always use tallow, ghee, or grass-fed, grass-finished butter.
