I started watching with my dad in 1985! He passed in 1989 and I still enjoyed visiting Genora City from time to time. RIP Krisoff St. John.

I agree with Eric, soaps have never been given the respect or the admiration they absolutely deserve. I began with Dark Shadows and went from there to all the rest. They have kept me intrigued, exasperated and fascinated my entire life and I am never ashamed to admit I watch them to this day. They transported me into another place at times when in my own life, I was struggling. Those actors & crews will never even know how they saved me because of the incredible hard work they put in every day. And whenever they roll the credits, I pay attention and always watch until they end. It's my way of honoring them.

It was so great to see Jeanne Cooper as Katherine Chancellor again. The show hasn't been quite the same since she passed away.

The Young & the Restless celebrating 50 years on CBS, while General Hospital is celebrating 60 years on ABC.

You can really tell that these shows have experienced so much over the years, as well as receiving lots of warmth and appreciation, from fans, all over.

I’m so thankful to see both shows, with incredible milestones, share such fond memories of working together, to make their shows what they are, today.

The elderly neighbors living across the street always tuned in to The Edge of Night at 4:00 every weekday and I would meander my way over to their home around 3:45 to say "hi." Of course they invited me in for milk and cookies but I was really there for the "adult" topics that were truly eye-opening to a 9 year old! This segment brought back those long forgotten moments and a smile on this lovely Sunday morning here in New York City! Thanks!

Growing up, I would visit my grandparents for 2 weeks every summer. My grandmother never missed an episode. So I eventually started watching it with her and got hooked on it. My mom used to say that she liked watching soap operas because it made her feel good knowing that her problems in life were so petty compared to theirs.

When I was a college freshman, I scheduled my classes around Y&R. :)

I watched Y&R as a young child every weekday with my grandma during the 80s. She loved her 'stories'. The theme music and the actors will always make me think of her. I love that so many of the characters are still around.

I was born in 1978 so I watched with my mama and she passed in 2004 and I'm STILL watching. Congratulations Y&R at 50! ❤

I've been watching Y & R since I'm 10 years old. Here's to 50 more years!

My love for Y&R started in '84, at the age of 4😂 My aunt who watched over all the cousins in the neighborhood fed us everyday at 12:30, when Y&R came on, and after eating most of us didn't go back outside to play until 1:30, when it went off. Y&R is still part of my day, it makes me feel closer to the women I loved that are no longer here who I watched it with: my mom, my grandmothers, and my aunts.

Katherine and Jill. The best soap diva rivalry ever. Way before Alexis and Krystle.

I started watching when I was 5. Both my grandmas watched this. And back in that day, you didn't have a lot of tvs in the house like you do now.

The only original actor is Doug Davidson from the beginning of the show then came Melanie Scott. Sad that Doug was not part of the reunion he was on the show for almost 50 year but they recently stopped writing rolls for him, such a mystery for such a popular character.

I remember watching the first episodes with my mother. I still keep up with it, even if I can't watch it every day.

Mind boggling how these shows are so ever lasting and how legit actresses keep their sanity playing these ridiculous roles for decades
Great theme song though!

I started watching it with my mom. Even if I can't watch it like I used to, I know it's always there, and I can jump back in at any time. I love that a lot of actors I love through the years are still there. Everyone at Y&R deserves so much respect and love for all they've given to their audience throughout these years. Wishing even more years to come.
