Q. What is a peripheral vascular disease (PVD)?
A.
All the tissues in the body need a blood supply.
A blood vessel is a tube through which the blood from the heart circulates in the body.
Of these blood vessels, the ones that go to all but the specialized areas such as organs like the heart and brain are peripheral blood vessels.
Peripheral vascular disease is a disease that occurs in all blood vessels except the coronary arteries of the heart and cerebral blood vessels.
