DIY Brick Rocket Stove

DIY Rocket stove! Been wanting to make one of these for awhile now. I tried the 4 center block version and didn't like it. I wanted something more permanent and efficient. Used about 30 bricks, a 50lb bag of mortar mix, and some iron grates that I had laying around the yard. Everything you see was free and it took about 3 hours to make. Hope you enjoy. Please like and share.

I really enjoyed the video you kindly made and posted on YouTube.  Very informative on rocket stove construction and use.  Thanks so much for your posting.  Bob

This is a pretty cool design, especially with the wires on the sides, and the coffee pot holder. However, it would have been nice to see your video on the *how to*, step by step. Thanks for sharing :-D

Did you cure the meat before cold smoking?

I have to agree that you have built a way to cook outdoors, but not actually a rocket stove. The ratio of riser (chimney) to burn chamber length is not right, which results in a minimal draft and inefficient burning of material. You can see this in the accumulation of ash in the burn chamber. Also, the block set in front of the fire, where the stick is resting, is further limiting the ability of this to function as a rocket stove. Given the size and height of the riser you've built, the burn chamber size is far too large. My guess is your fires are quite smokey, at first, and you use relatively high amounts of fuel to generate the needed heat for cooking. While it's still cool and useful, it's not a rocket stove in the strictest sense.

That is NOT a rocket stove. Just looks like one. The proportions are not correct.

I wish you would have held the camera steady.  Too much waiving around.

Too much cooking and eating. Nothing about details of construction.
