In many of Europe's older cities, small living spaces can be quite common, especially in cities as old and as dense as Paris, France. Over the years, we've appreciated a number of interesting small space renovations and quirky conversions in the City of Lights, ranging from a former doorman's residence, a bathroom-turned-micro-apartment, to an old garage transformed into a home for a family of four. And as anyone who's lived in a small apartment will tell you, a lot of creativity and careful attention to details is needed to maximize the space that's available, and to make all the miscellaneous pieces work together.
No matter how big your home, you want to be able to maximize your use of the space. In a larger area, this is a bit easier to do with the careful placement of furniture and organized storage solutions. However, as a home gets smaller, space-saving solutions have to get a bit more creative. One way to maximize space in a small home is through the use of levels. We see this often in lofted bed designs, but there are myriad ways to use vertical space to keep a small home organized and feel spacious. Tiny apartment featured in this post are a bit undersized, but in their design, certainly don't feel that way.
At first, the architects designed a Murphy bed, which is both a sofa and a bed, but the owner wanted a comfortable, independent sofa to receive guests and architects have designed a multi-function cabinet, it is both a place to hide a bed, a place to hide a smart TV shelf, and a place to hide a dining table... and a wardrobe, all in 1 great. With this multifunction cabinet, the space becomes airy and looks more spacious with its actual area. Uniquely designed 4-person dining table that can be folded and hidden in a cupboard, this dining chair designed to fit this dining table can be used as a bedside cabinet. The homeowner's choice of color from the architect's consultation brings a sense of lightness and relaxation.

Same here! The pull-out TV is marvellous. I never saw that before. It's ingenious. (If one wanted to watch TV from the bed it might be possible to hang a mirror above the sofa...?) The pull-down bed and pull-out wardrobe elements fit on brilliantly. It's a great small apartment. G Ire

Very cool. I would probably want the Murphy bed to pull down over the couch.. then there would be even more storage in that unit opposite and the tv could be viewed easily from the bed also.
