Today i checked out the most anticipated animated movie of the year and decided if I think its a good enough sequel to the incredible "Inside Out". I gave thoughts on the new emotions, the way it portrays anxiety, and my love for THE BELIEF SYSTEM WOW SO CREATIVE!

i whipped this vid up in like 8 days so pardon any mistakes in editing or my own pronunciations. my head is recovering from a terrible sleep schedule. Let me know your own thoughts on the future of pixar and inside out 2 :)

HEY GUYS. i dont know why this video sounds so loud. when i exported it the video sounded fine but on youtube it increased the vids volume for some reason :( very sorry. feel free to turn down ur volume so your ears survive!!

edit: okay apparently its a new feature youtube added called "stable audio" in the settings tab. turn that off to listen to the actual original audio of the video.

"Art teacher?"
"Underappreciated."

at this line in the movie my mother and i immediately turned to each other with jaws dropped.

my dad is an art teacher.

The way they showed anxiety was so perfect anxiety isn’t an evil being more of a thing that tries to look at every social outcome to protect themselves but doesn’t realize that what it’s doing is hurting the person

My favourite part is actually when Riley's sense of self (cultivated by anxiety) forms and says "I'm not good enough". Anxiety's reaction of shock and denial was so powerful and it was so emotive to show how that belief could be formed from good intentions.

I didn't think they could do it since Pixar sequels are double sided but Inside Out 2 proved to be an amazing sequel I need a third movie!

I laughed so hard when i saw a comment somewhere saying "the only unrealistic thing about this movie is the fact that Riley got her shit together in 3 days" LMAOO

Finally.
A sequel that actually pays tribute to the original.
Haven't gotten that in a while lol

I think it’s funny that anger is taking a father figure approach considering that Riley’s father is literally headed off by anger

Let’s be clear here, Anxiety isn’t the Bad Guy. She’s an antagonist. Which may sound similar but they are different, and Bad Guy is one who seeks to do anything to accomplish a goal even if it hurts others, and Antagonist is just someone who opposes the Protagonists which Anxiety does perfectly

One thing that I haven’t seen anyone bring up is this movie’s focus on the color orange.
It’s such a loud distracting color, similarly to how distracting anxiety is to feel
Throughout the movie, more things seem to become orange. The memories, the sky, the lockers in the school, the shading on characters’ faces, the hockey jackets, then at the anxiety attack scene, literally every single visible thing is orange down to the background itself

Something I loved about the movie is the fact that Val is actually a nice and cool person, and not just a mean girl.

Out of all the Pixar properties Inside Out is easily the most franchisable one. When Riley gets too old to be marketable just switch to a new kid, they have a lot of room to explore different kinds of people with different dynamics for the emotions. Like, at the very least a movie about an ADHD kid would be very distinct and entertaining.

Finally someone’s acknowledged fears line “even though anxiety is bad, I can change her, ” and also when he said “you and I are going to be friends”

Right here 18:36 that part actually kind of gave me the chills the way she just says it’s so sinister
“Joooyy… I know your in thheerreee…” creeps me the heck out

I didn't realize just how different the lighting was when you compare Inside Out 2 to the original... the new one looks so much more clean and vibrant, without feeling any different! Truly a masterful way of doing it.

Honestly with the coach, I think the reason she was thinking Riley was "not ready yet" wasn't because of any skill related thing, but from more of a personality perspective, like how she was acting. Things that seemed small in the moment, like obsessing over practicing and not sleeping.

funniest scene was when they were dropping riley off at the hockey camp and the dad looked at the mom and was like "So... rileys gone for the weekend... what are we gonna do?" 😏😏😏

At the scene where coach labeled Riley "not ready" in the list was needed since it shows that Riley wasn't mentally ready for the team and if you think about it, its true. She doesn't show respect to herself or any of the other team members and constantly tries to fit in, whats worse is that she didn't show to her coach that she doesn't have good teamwork (at the scene where she tries to steals the black thing from her teammates, idk hockey).

As someone with an anxiety disorder, i found this sequel to be fantastic and deeply relateable. How anxiety tries to control and gameplan for every single little future scenario that it completely consumes Rileys life was very accurate. The panic attack was very faithful and a great representation of what it feels like on the inside - a desperate collapse of reality around you where you don't know how to calm down. The scene in the imagination room with anxiety/Joy was a great way to illustrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a real life therapy technique. It's brilliant how excellently everything was portrayed. Hands down my favorite pixar movie to date.
