I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't fit this cooler on my Mobo. My god, why couldn't AMD just go with longer screws? This thing sucks.

For those of you having trouble installing this cooler here is some help:

1. Install the cooler with the motherboard on the table, not on top of the motherboard box

2. You need to put downwards pressure on the screws when you're screwing it in

3. You will hear like a ratcheting click sound when it is going in

4. Install in a criss cross pattern with the screws

5. Dont worry about over tightening it because the screws will prevent it. The ratcheting sound will stop when its in

Hope this helps some of you

I just did this, thank you a lot for this video! For people wondering why the screws won't go in, your screws are spring loaded. Push down on the so they reach the motherboard and then screw. Just screwing when their not touching yet will not move it.

That made the installation clear for me.
The "manual" that came with my CPU was so small and hard to read and covered 3 or 4 different motherboard styles

Very important note when installing the stock cpu fan: there is only one way to install it which is by applying pressure on the back plate of the mother board ( black metal plate found behind the motherboard) then start screwing and applying pressure starting from top right corner then bottom left and so on. Do not screw one screw at once try equally distribute it. thank me later 😉

The reason you should never use your finger isnt dirt or dust getting in the paste as long as your fingers are clean. You should never use your fingers or any spreader because it can cause uneven spread on the thermal paste. Which can cause air to get trapped between the cpu and heatsink and defeat the purpose of the thermal compound all together.

The screws on my fan and too tight and won't go down, what can I do?

I like the comments here about difficulty of attaching the stock cooler to the MB. My decade-old E8400 used a similar crappy 4-screw stock cooler install - complete PITA to get it securely attached. Can't believe the technology has not improved after this long?

Christ, what an effort lol if anyone is having problems just push REALLY hard with the screwdriver while screwing it in (worked for me)
