What's The Deal With Apple's Titanium iPhone?

Each new generation of iPhone brought with it a new marketing gimmick. Apple promoted the iPhone X’s notch, the iPhone 11 Pro’s triple camera system, the iPhone 12 Pro’s flat edges, and the iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island.

But this year, Apple took a different approach. Instead of promoting a feature or new design element, they chose to emphasize the iPhone 15 Pro’s material; titanium. Which many people have found confusing.

I went from the 12 pro max to the 15 pro max and the difference is actually felt, rather than seen.

I was at the apple store recently, and the the feel of the titanium was nice

I was in the barber shop today. The 15 pro add came on and a few people started talking about it. The conversation was quick and started and ended with how titanium wouldn’t stop your glass from cracking.

Stainless steel will always feel more premium. it’s heavy and solid, titanium looks and feels like aluminum.

It's silly for me. Literally the front and back of the iPhone are made of glass. I've never heard someone say "man those frames are so fragile. I'd really like them to be stronger"

Titanium, stainless steel, metal, etc. In the end, it doesn't matter because 99% of people use a protective case and the material of the phone, its texture, or its durability is basically irrelevant.

If I had to guess, I’d say Apple’s chief marketers were watch collectors. The benefits of titanium as a casing for wristwatches is fairly well known among watch enthusiasts, and so it’s possible Apple didn’t communicate it because they didn’t think they needed to communicate it.

Titanium is tough but soft. Glass is hard. So glass breaks.

I don’t recommend this for most people using a iPhone 13 Pro or newer, but I went from the 14 pro max to the 15 pro max specifically for the almost thunderbolt USB-C port. In my case I say it was worth it as I’ve been using it almost everyday since buying it to offload files quickly into Final Cut Pro on my Mac. Not to mention while filming videos I can use an external microphone easily, along with a thunderbolt hub to keep my iPhone charged, have the microphone connected, and if I choose to record directly to a external hard drive all at once. If you do that use a external battery pack to keep your phone charged or your microphone will pickup the noise in AC current

I went from my scratched XR to 14 PM and the best benefit of having stainless steel is you can use the same polishing solution and buff out the scratches like you would on your fridge or stove. You can’t buff out anything on aluminum or titanium, it’s permanent.

It really continues to say a lot about Apple running out of ideas when it comes to coming up with something on a yearly basis. Much like with iOS and especially the Apple Watch, it would've really been much better for them to switch to bi-yearly releases instead as it would've given them.more time for marketing and software stabilization instead if pushing something that many wouldn't really need at all.

The titanium feels really nice in the hand . And it’s true that the phone feels lighter than the number suggests

you also forgot to add that titanium conducts heat differently and it might be one of the reasons why the new iPhone struggles with temperature control

Is titanium really more durable? Feel like I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about stretches and damage more frequently than stainless steel iPhones

Wish they had a cool color this year. They were all so muted it’s disappointing

Its ok, but just some more points..
1. Some experienced the paint scratching off, since painting titanium is tough, so those who biught natural titanium are safe..
2. Yes titanium is stronger than steel, but phone's weakest point is not the steel, it is glass... And in some experiments, since steel and titanium absorb shocks differently, the glass of titanium broke first..

1:49 That's absolutely false. Titanium smudges the most out of any metal I have touched before.

The pro res log and high data transfer speeds with the pro max is kind of a big selling point, you see them pointing out they filmed using iPhone
