DIY: How to Make and Install an Indoor Swing

Here is a quick and easy DIY tutorial video on how to build and install a hanging swing in a kid's room. This tutorial will show you everything you need to know to make and hang an indoor swing in a kid's bedroom.

Steps:
1. Cut board to 22" wide
2. Use a palm sander to sand and all edges to make rounded
3. Using 1/2" drill bit, drill holes for rope 1.5" from each corner edge
4. Paint both sides and edges of wood with a coat of triple-thick polyurethane
5. Using stud finder, locate and mark wood stud to hang swing from ceiling
6. Drill small pilot holes in ceiling wood stud 19" apart
7. Screw in eye hooks by hand and finish tightening using a pipe wrench
8. Add quick link chain connectors and tighten by hand
9. Loop rope through quick links and through holes on each side of board. Attach with knots and hang board 18" from the ground.
10. Swing on it and enjoy!

Materials used:
- 5/4" x 8" wood board
- screw eye hooks (*the link below comes with carabiners)
- quick link chain connectors
- hemp rope
- triple-thick polyurethane

A basic magnet is an awesome stud finder, just slide it along the wall (up and down) and it’ll find the drywall screws that hold the drywall to each stud, mark the location with a pencil, and then go up and down with the magnet making sure you locate additional drywall screws in the same stud to ensure you actually found the stud and not just a random screw the drywall installers left in the wall. Easy peasy
