I'm just happy he's in Michigan now. Back home. He was good during his time in Montreal. We wish him well.

Didn't get as much as I hoped for with 50 retained. But at least he will go to a place he will be happy

Kent handled this well, including treating Petry with respect by telling him he would try to move him as quickly as possible. Class act, which is required to build a winner.

I mamish love the tune that he always starts the videos with ! The 3 second jingle. I like it a lot

For the bulk of his tenure, Habs fans were pretty pleased with his performance. It’s nice for the Petry family to go home. I think that this was more of a “heart” gesture, than a hockey one. I would consider the return, as a possible indication of that. Still would’ve wished for more, though.

The 50 retained, imho, is a direct product of having set a very small time delay window to trade him. He said so himself during his last interview with the media, that he didn't took the necessary time in order to "maximize" everything, since he promised Petry it would be done super fast. I'm okay with that, and it's how you get a reputation of being as fair as possible with players as a team.

But big picture guys; it's ridiculous what Kent managed to get out of players he didn't want, who wanted to be traded, AND with unsavory contracts LOL!
If ANYONE would have told me that we would involve Petry in 3 transactions and also manage to get rid of Offman with zero salary retention + Mr. Pick the Lick AND get anything in return... I mean, I would have called that person insanely crazy.

This is masterclass level of asset management, seriously.

I heard that he was traded, but I didn't want to look up the details. I decided to wait for Junkie to tell me all about it.

In the past week, hughs took the combined salary of pitlick and hoffman - 5.6m - and almost reduced it to a third, plus getting a second round pick and more prospects and a little depth. OK, so we have to trade a goalie to finalize, but this guy is a wizard. Next, Armia will get a buyout guaranteed..

I really love this deal. I don’t think we could have gotten more for PETRY. I love how Kent Hughes is not as stubborn as Bergevin when it comes to trading. Hughes will take what he can get and I love that. Lindstrom is a solid defensive defenseman who, from what Hughes has said, is at 70% of his expected potential so he will only get better. He is also big which is what we need at the back end. Love this trade.

Great video junkie, I m as happy as a pig in shit, and go back within my that couple of videos and I called I said keep your eye open for Detroit Detroit and Dallas. While no one else was saying Detroit. I knew Stevie would pounce on this where he was getting him for a third of his salary . And fans don't realize overall how much Hugh's got for Petry with both trades. And Hugh's wasn't going to get much when everyone knows you don't want him. And he came off a bad season. So the trade placed Hugh's in a pickle to take best offer in order not to harm our young core defense group.Only way we could get more was keep him and screw one of our young promising rookie defenseman. And thankfully he didn't jeopardize the youth going in right direction. Too much risk if Petry didn't up his value . And think it only would ve hurt a young players ice time and development .

Im so glad! I dont mind retaining salary. Wouldve been happy with just the conditional 4th pick lol. Favorite'trade' or planning by Hughes to date for me

what I heard from Detroit fans on other channels is that Lindstrom is a fringe player who never got to the ceiling he had. ptobably a career AHL player with some calls back if too many injured players in the roster

I'm quite happy with this return! I'm a little surprised to not get more picks in return for Jeff but I heard MR. CLEAN Kent himself talk about moving another 3.7M before the season and that saves us money. Look I don't know all the details but he said having Carey off of off-season LTI would save us money for the future so now I could really see them moving Dvorak, Armia+ or unfortunately Jake Allen if the plan is to save that money. Either way good deal and go Habs go!

So you wanna 86 Armia but keep Wideman on the Menu ? I'd say there's a new herring in town, Widepan will soon have to find some wok elsewhere.
