We know rational fractions is fractions is fractions which can be written in P(x)/Q(x). So here we will express a single rational fraction as the sum of partial fractions and it is also called partial fraction resolution.
The questions 8 of ch 5 maths class 11 5.3 exercise which we will solve are :
Resolve into partial fractions:
Question 8: 1/(x-1)^2(x^2+2)
we can see here irreducible quadratic factors are in the denominator of rational fraction. Procedure of decomposition into partial fractions is:
Main Points:
1. The degree of P(x) must be less than the degree of Q(x). If not divide and work with the remainder theorem. Means our fraction must be proper rational fraction else if it is improper than make it proper first.
2. Clear the given equation of fractions.
3. Equate the coefficients of like terms(power of x).
4. Solve the resulting equation to find coefficients.
So In fractions this is main points to decompose into partial fractions. So in this way we try to explain fsc math part 1 chapter 5 exercise 5.3.
