One disadvantage I would like to mention. If market moves violently in any direction even for a shorter time frame, the MTM loss will give you a heart attack. I have faced it currently for Dec expiry nifty options.

I think all long term option selling strategies make sense only in high VIX environment where you can "lock-in" those higher premiums which will decay faster when VIX will cool down. Otherwise, if you sell options when premiums are low due to low VIX, you can seriously burn your hands in case market becomes trending. No amount of adjustments can save you in such a scenario unless you introduce more capital to sell more options on the losing side to match delta of overall position.
