New at the Homestead...straight out of Cinderella!
This is a “Walking Wheel”. This tool was used for spinning yarn.
This particular antique is the same size that Eliza and her daughter Mary would have used as Dress Makers.
This was called a Walking Wheel because the spinner is continually walking back and forth with the yarn she spins.
Pioneer women could walk up to twenty miles a day from corner to corner in their cabins while spinning their yarn!
