I made the decision to purchase the Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 a few months back. After spending some time shooting with it, I wanted to share my current thoughts on it, why I chose it over the 20mm f/1.8 and 14-30mm f/4, answer a few of the common questions I've received, and finally walk through a few of my favorite photos I've captured with it.

If you enjoy it, please give it a thumbs up and let me know your thoughts in the comments. If you have any questions I'll be more than happy to answer down in the comments or over on Instagram! Don't forget to subscribe to make sure you receive the latest videos!

Thank you,
Will

Thanks Will, for your insight into this lens, I have bought it as well . I am working in Holland but I am travelling home to Scotland tomorrow so will be able to get my hands on it Saturday for the first time. Can't wait to try it out for landscapes. Keep up the good work.

This lens is impressive. Way lighter than the older Nikon 14-24 2.8 and a solution to take filters. I have an Olympus camera and the other zooms in the system do well with go light philosophy but the 7-14 2.8 is 534 grams which compared well to the old 14-24, but I think this new one Nikon is 620 grams which is pretty amazing since it covers the full frame sensor and everyone seems to be giving it top marks in their reviews. If I switch systems in the future I may go to the Z mount to get this lens. Thanks for the review.

Great Video Will! I bought the same lens a couple months ago and I couldn't be happier. I bought the Kase Wolverine Pro 112mm 5 Filter kit with travel case off of Amazon for $599 and its absolutely awesome. I also bought the Haida insert kit off of eBay for $150. It came with the swappable insert carriage and also 4 different ND filters all the way up to ND1000. It works great in concert with the Kase filters. I know they are expensive but when you jump into the deep end by buying this great lens you don't want to miss out on some of what the lens has to offer with the best filters. I know Nisi has great stuff too but the color cast is a bit blue on all the Nisi stuff I've seen for this lens. All my Kase filters have absolutely NO color cast at all. Anyway... Loved your video and I intend on doing some Astro for the first time this year and I will need as much help as I can get. I herd that the best time of the year for it is around June-July. Is that right?

Interesting to see that somebody else have noticed the switch off/on to get the stars in focus with the Z system. I noticed it happened also with my Z 24-70 F2.8 lens when switching between lenses during a night session with northern lights, and I wondered if it was just a coincidence. Not sure if this works with all of the Z lenses. But now I need to try this with my new 14-24 as well since I had a bit of struggle to find perfect focus on the stars with that lens on my first night out.

I really would love to pick up this lens. Only problem is that it likely will not fit well on my old D90 haha. But seriously would love to pick up this lens and decide on a body later, it is just so great looking.

Hi will. I really like your content but would it be possible to turn down the volume of the background music? Or even better omit it? Would make it much easier to follow. Thank you.

I chose the 20mm f1.8 >. far brighter at f1.8 than f2.8 at the Milky Way but that 14 - 24 is a beaut but I use the 14-30 f4 as my landscapes are shot at f8-say f16

I rented this lens for 7 days for my trip to Greece and Venice and to test it out and I dont think theyre even worth $1000 or 1300 EUR.
I just do photography whenever i travel (im not an expert) and i found my ''Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR'' doing a better job than the 14-24mm. I own a Nikon z50,
At close distance it seemed as if I stepped a step back when I shot with the 14-24mm compared to the small 16-50mm.
At medium distance (100-200m) it seemed like if i just added 5meters on my right side and left side.
At long distance (kilometers away), you can see a difference but it does not justify $1000 for USA and let alone 1300EUR in Europe.

Maybe i just expected too much of an ''ultra wide angle lens"? From pictures ive seen in the internet it looks like this lens would fix all the problems you have by fitting EVERYTHING in the picture beautifully. Anyways I still think my 16-50mm lens ($250) outperforms this wide angle lens.
Or did i do something wrong?
Like i said, im not an expert or anything on photography, and maybe me and real photographers have different expectations for lenses.
edit: i also found my16-50mm($250) being sharper than the ultra wide angle lenses when zooming into the picutre for far objects..
