In video 1841 we'll look at another treasure from Charlie's Father-in-Law's toolbox. This Ilco padlock is in pristine condition, despite it's age and would be a great addition to anyone's collection.

Love the aesthetics of this lock. The old ones certainly put as much thought into exterior design, as they did to the interior workings 👍

I love watching these videos, they got me hooked on learning how to pick locks

The padlock with no screw release under the chackle may have been master key removable especially if they had been made for a company so they could be changed out easily.

Enjoyed the explanation of what was happening inside the lock while you were picking it.

I have two very old Ilco locks. One i've picked, the other is a bit reticent about the secrets. Beautiful locks, and great to see one in such wonderful nick.

Really nice classic! The classic style may be picked faster but it still looks better than the new locks.

Nice picking on that beautiful old Ilco. Very generous giveaway, although it wouldn't upset me if that Ratyoke made its way into the pile 😉👍🏻

The core is serviced by popping out the retaining pin (look in the light to see the outline on the side.) Either drill it out or drill a pilot hole and pull it with a threaded puller. Do your core work, then replace the core, tamp in in a new retaining pin, and grind/polish the pin to blend in with the side. ILCO is still in business. Making lots of key blanks, cylinders, etc. but no more padlocks.

I pulled one of those apart once, and was surprised to find a KnK (Key In Knob) type complete cylinder inside, sort of like an American Padlock, abet the ILCO core non removable without some "destruction" (which should NEVER be done to such a historic, perfect example)
