We met in Berlin with Simon, we talked about your camera and skateboard. I told you thank you for your work and what you do for music on internet. You doing well whatever you, thanks for sharing what's in your mind, it's pretty brave i think. Keep doing what you do, at the pace you feel it. we love it.

Cuckoo, this seems like therapy to me, I think you should do more things like the piano in the background. Maybe it could help with that desert feeling you're getting.

Hey out there, Hey Cuckoo! I have Longcovid now for 1, 5 years… killed my creativity because my whole life became damn serious in terms of raising kids and earning money, money, money to survive… everything changed and health became the only thing that counts!I‘m fighting myself back to life, love and humble happiness despite of all the obstacles! 💪 It‘s okay to struggle and rest a while and just listen to yourself… and then: take the hammer and tune your life the way you want it to sound… 😉 slow, nice and gentle… take care out there 🌈

I am glad you did this video. I think it is always an important topic of discussion and I love reading the support and ideas in the comments. We all hit that point, where talking about it is one of the greatest things when hitting that wall so to speak! Cheers Cuckoo & Fam!!! 👊🧡👍

I think many of us suffer from option paralysis in this golden age of music.
So much to listen to... saturation.
So many instruments to play.
When I studied Indian classical music with Ali Akbar Khan, he used to tell a story about when he was learning music from his father.
When he was young, he studied; Sarode, Sitar, violin, Tabla, singing, harmonium and many others.
At a certain point, his father told him to only play Sarode from now on. When he wanted to play violin, he had to play violin on the Sarode and so on...
I am feeling much the same way you are describing, unfocused, a bit lost musically.
But good things are ahead, my wife and I will start a 3 year bicycle tour in a few months and I will take a home made hybrid instrument with me.
I have done literally years of bicycle touring with my Sitar riding in a small trailer behind my bike, and it was good for focusing on one instrument. But Sitar, a wonderful as it is, can be a bit one dimensional for me over a long period. Hopefully my Hybrid instrument will help me with that. I will have 3 years to get to know it.
Anyway, good luck getting out the the rut.
One thing that always helps me is to learn a song or compose in a style that I don't like very much. It is a fun game I use to change my attitude.

My favorite thing about Push3 is that it is running ableton and max4live under the hood. That means you can do all the usual control surface take over, button grabbing, rreplacing functions, running scripts, to totally change Push to work how you wish it worked. It is incredible and a hugely future proof. I also believe ableton will reimbrace it after live 12 is out the door and it will truly bloom.

I do music as a hobby but my main job is creative as well. I find the “balance” for me is to invision a cold glass of water. You have only a freezer and it’s a hot day. The choices are outside the freezer and inside the freezer. You want to have a nice cold glass of water. If you leave it in the freezer too long, it’s ice. You can’t drink it. If it is out in the warm day too long, it is warm/flat and can get “stale”. So it’s a balance of freezer vs no freezer. In another words, “work” vs “time away”. So maybe that can help. I know when I take time away, ideas can flow. Even when I am driving or just walking the dog. But too long a break and I can get lost. When I procrastinate or work too hard on something, I get lost in it as well… like over analyzing leading to paralysis. By the way, mirrors are important - take time for yourself and also marvel in yourself.

So, that helps me. A tall glass of cold water; literally and figuratively. ❤✌🏽

I've been working on a project the requires all kinds of things to come together and I feel like I've been living in that liminal space --between definable places or goals-- for years now. Welcome. The coffee is still warm, but not hot.

The background piano is absolutely enchanting and fits the deeply personal nature of the video so so well.

Thanks for the video and the personal insights, everyone gets to that place in the desert and sometimes it is a necessary part of the path. I hope you have a wonderful and recharging time in the Mediterranean, enjoy!

Us sensitive creatives always get to feel a bit lost…. But when you get connected that’s what we all need to create, it’s just the flow of things…..it will cool down soon, and hopefully your holiday break helps you refocus cheers for all you have shared so far Cuckoo

We moved house last year and we’re still renovating a good deal of it, so for ages I didn’t have my studio set up. Now that it’s finally done, it feels like something just clicked. I’m feeling way more creative! Still struggling a bit with noise - construction noise from down the road - but I feel like I’m coming out the other side of a slump myself now. The noise will get worse, they’re redoing all the sidewalks and infrastructure in our neighbourhood, so eventually they’ll be right in front of the house, but I think I have a way of working around it now. Don’t worry about it, mate, we all go through ups and downs. I’m curious to see what you’ll do with the Push!

The piano is really magnificent

it's a special year where despite the freedom that has returned, I think that there are still traumas and fears to digest.. lots of love and sweetness, benevolence will certainly be very useful for many of us!

Light and shade are part of life. If you didn’t have shade, you wouldn’t know what light looked like. Cuckoo, it’s all good. Hang on in there. It’s all part of the journey. You have an amazing talent, you will be fine. Just let it flow when it comes, and accept that if it doesn’t flow, that’s OK too, it’ll come back. And the obstacles along the way won’t always be there.
