Kuemper has looked incredible lately. If he can carry this into the playoffs, the Avs are winning the cup for sure.

Kuemper with a great bounce back game after getting pulled! Stuffed all the Kuemper haters mouths with donuts 🍩 can we get a 7 game series of these teams??

Honestly the Flames just played 5 games in 7 days. And outshot the Avs. After a game yesterday. They looked bagged. They did much better against the Avs than i expected. Kuemper played great. Hope to see these team in the WCF. Wasn't even upset with this loss as a Flames fan.

This was a personal night for Darcy Kuemper. In their first meeting against the Flames, he was pulled for Pavel Francouz after allowing 3 goals. Yesterday, the Colorado Avalanche announced a contract extension for Francouz with a 2 year/$4M deal. Both goalies were going to be unrestricted free agents at the end of the season. Kuemper may not want to admit it, but he took both scenarios personally. That's why he showed up tonight with a shutout to prove to the fans and organization that he is the number one goalie. He saved his best save for last by robbing Tkachuk in the final minute of regulation. With Landeskog out indefinitely due to knee surgery and Girard out for a month, the Avs are feeling the pressure. There was no presence of complacency tonight. They know they are literally playing short-handed. Tonight, there were only 11 forwards and 6 defensemen. I actually think the organization made the right decision to not call up anyone from the minors. They are now at a point where flaws needs to be fixed with the core group. The Avs can't ask more from Mackinnon when he has scored 12 goals in 12 games. It is time for everyone else to step up especially from the bottom six. Flames fans, we're all aware that you are playing 5 games in 7 nights. However, I do find it very odd that Sutter decided to opt in Markstrom to play yesterday while starting Vladar tonight.

As a Kings fan, thank you Av's for allowing us to creep 2 points closer to the Flames after your splendid shutout victory over them.

Great game by the Avs. Honestly, Girard being out could pay off big time. He was playing terribly.

Hey SportsNet, what's up with the away feed for an Avs home game? Also, why no replay of Mac's first goal, but you showa replay of a Flames save? Weird.

AVS defense looked better without girard

Not gonna lie, I wasn't super happy with Kuemper early season but honestly he's made up for his slow start very nicely

Weird highlights. Couldn't figure out why they had the first two minutes in there.

Avs 1st line (and Kuemper) took this one. Last time it was Flames 1st line. This would be a crazy good playoff series.

The future for the Av's looks promising if they keep Alex Newhook. A little more ice time here and there and back to back hat tricks will be common place.

This was the Game the Avalanche Needed to Win. Calgary is FIRE RED HOT right now, and to shut them out is Huge. For the Avs, before tonight, 4 losses in 5 games, they weren't playing well, then after the Unfortunate loss to The Hurricanes of Carolina, they lost Gabriel Landeskog for the Season for Knee Surgery, that was a Monumental Loss for the AVS. Mikko Rantanen looked really good this game, and he really needs to step up, if he does and Nathan MacKinnon gets Red Hot, which he looks like he's doing, Nathan MacKinnon has always been a Second Half player, and Makar and Kadri Keep up their Dominance....Kadri Especially - another 2 points in this game. The Avalanche should be Alright and be Favorites to go to the Stanley Cup.
Sakic also is looking to Trade before the Deadline, it'll be interesting to see whom he goes after, especially know with Gabriel Landeskog out.

Side Note: Gabriel Landeskog did NOT have to go in for Knee Surgery. But, after several Opinions by Professional Doctors, he was told that "He Could Play the Rest of the Season, but it would severely cost him in the long run, so after giving it much thought and played a few more games and talked to teammates, he decided that going under the knife was the best route to go for him and the Organization in the long run. He knows that this team can Win it all without Him.

Great Calgary Flames Team, I don't think anyone Had them in Second Place in the Western Conference with 25 games Left when we were at the half way point of the Season. I had them Making the Playoffs, but, winning the Division...they have Surprised A lot of people.

A shut out on 46 shots? I see a hat-pick coming.

Also, I know the Flames played 5 games in 7 days which is Ridiculous. but the Avs have Played 4 games in 6 days Twice and 5 in 8 Once and are 2nd in the league in Back to back games, half the time Road then Home the next Being is both teams have put up with Ridiculous Scheduling by the NHL...The League needs to do better then this. Tonight, the Avs Played Shorthanded, and the Flames Played Tired, but neither looked it. That is One of the Big things that Separates the Great Teams from the Bad.

Flames looked tired from playing the night before.

Great game for both teams. Keumper was standing on his head. Chalk it up to a scheduled loss for the Flames. Tough slog the last 4-5 games. I'm happy with their record throughout though, and look forward to see what they do the rest of the season. Congrats Avs!
