Hi Joseph....
I don't have any problems with my Z9. My assumption is that Nikon received a new batch of lens release buttons that were not up to spec.
My S/N/ returned: "Your camera is unaffected. Repair not necessary"

I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.
Regards,
Rick

My Z 9 is fine and most my channel viewers Z9's are fine. Only a small percentage from the people I'm hearing back from are effected. So far I only have 1 viewer email me with an effected camera. " Another Nikon is done" video. :) Let's give it a few months and see what Nikon does in 2023. Will sure to shock the pants off the camera world. Just wait.

Hi,
I have a Nikon Z9 and been using it for about 12 months with NO issues at all, everything works perfectly except for the idiot behind the camera.
I did receive the email you mentioned and my Z9 is not affected.
If you have a Z9 which is/maybe affected I would suggest that you promptly contact Nikon Service in your country and pleasantly ask if the problem can be rectified while you wait. If you are able to give a good story you may be pleasantly surprised with the possible outcome.

I want to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a healthy Happy New Year. Sad news on a company's flagship product. Most of my friends have stayed away from Nikon with older cameras that failed and no support. Sure hope this changes or they are toast. Cheers for 2023

Been using cameras since 1993 and my Nikon z9 is the best camera that I've used so far. And yes, I'm a Sony shooter. I let go of my a7iii and use the Nikon Z9, Sony a7c and the Nikon Zfc

Thank you for that information! I have been using Nikon since 1960 film Camera's and when I switched to the Digital line the D1, D70, D100, D200 had one headache after another; then the D90, D300 was a mess with the Shutter box coming unglued, then it was the D300S that was Traded off for a D600 another nightmare then unloaded that and picked up a
D7500 which is a short-changed D500. I wanted a used D750 but thinking twice about that body! Now after the D850 may be the best option!

I think even 500, 00 dollar products shouldn't have any problem. so i completely agree with you but I think they are apologizing, and offering free shipping and repairing respecting the clients, and to be fair you should comment companies that doesn't do this. Actually the d750 is one really popular camera that makes a lot off people happy.

It sounds like your blowing this out of proportion and exaggerating this does not help anyone except panic, rest assured if you had check this more thoroughly prior to putting this video out then you would have rephrased most of what you had said.
Checking serial numbers online - it’s very very few cameras. Also even if serial numbers show as affected that does not mean it’s broke. There has not been anything online regarding this from anyone. So nothing to worry about.

Mines unaffected. So not all cameras have this problem

it seems that reading through all of the comments so far for this video and the forums, hardly anyone seems affected.I know that there are some out there or Nikon wouldn't do a recall but I have seen no-one step up with the issue and you know how oily wheels are...they get the attention. Good video but I think Nikon is being proactive

Mine is affected. I can see why, when I pressed down the lens release button, it didn't go down smoothly, it got stuck in the middle a bit, then if I keep pushing, it'll go down. For some, it is probably worse, but I don't think it'll get to the point that the lens are completely stuck. If you give it some patience, press it from different angle, the lens will eventually come off. I saw a link that says the lens will be stuck to the body like being super glued, that is just nonsense. I think I'll keep using it for a while, and send it in at a later time. I am fine with sending it in, but what I am worried is that Nikon is using third party repairs, I am not sure how good those guys are in terms of holding up to Nikon's standard.

My 750 missed the first wo recall, but not home free. Third one got me. I called repair and said I could not provoke the problem and did they want it back. Yes. Took a month because they were short parts. Came back working fine.

Month too long? Leica keeps stuff 3-6 months every single time. Always keep a spare or two Leicas.

Nikon hit it out of the park with Z9 & Z8. Relax, Nikon is on it.

I’ve had my Z9 1 week. My Z9 is not affected.

I don't think this is wide spread. No one that I know has experienced this. If it wasassice the outcry would be loud.

Nothing like the D750 issues, this is a mechanical fixture fault, unlike the sensor issue of the D750, and is effecting a very narrow band of cameras. Can I just ask, if Nikons recalls were anything like Ford or Lexus or Rolls Royce faults the photography industry would be up in arms, some Fords have dozens of recalls Lexus too, ( most reliable cars on the road) Nikon have had a very small proportion of recalls unlike other brands! would this stop you buying Nikon?

This is the first photo-related notification I get from this channel in a very long time! I don't know if it's just me or if there was only Space X talks for the past 2+ months with no photography related content during this whole time In any case, nice to see some photo-related content again. Now, to be honest, this news is worrisome. I have been one of the big proponents of "it doesn't matter where you manufacture your product as long as it's under the patronage of the main brand and under its QA standards" and this worries me in the sense that if there is a large enough sample affected that is worth publicly acknowledging the issue and even creating a support page for it, then we're definitely talking about something larger than a few outliers. The only defect I ever had with a Nikon camera that screamed QA was the left side rubber finish on my D780 which was larger in dimension than the designated area where it should fit making it stick out from the side. It's also peeling off now so I intend on getting it serviced soon. However, that's one QA related issue in over 10 years using Nikon and with more than 15 different bodies and over 30 lenses. So it's not a common thing, but still it's worrisome when you hear such news. I hope it doesn't affect a lot of users, otherwise, it'll really impact their reputation.

Why have I only just heard about this through returning an item to a dealer in the UK, I was reading their returns policy and it had a comment about this issue. I was like WTF! I bought my Z9 from Nikon back in November and why haven't they notified me? Not even an email to maybe go check your serial number on the website. This is ridiculous, I can't be without my Z9 for longer than a few days as I'm a pro. Sad times.
