Locavore vs Manam. The Best Filipino Restaurant in BGC?

Kumusta fellow foodies,

Have you ever had Filipino food? See from where we came from Hong Kong & Russia we have never tried any filipino food (even the famous filipino fast food Jollibee). We asked our subscribers the two best restaurants in BGC and we came back with Manam & Locavore.

With no prior experience in Filipino cuisine, we tried Manam when we first came to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Manila and it made a huge impact on our impression of Filipino food, especially with its signature Sinigang Soup and since then Manam has become our second home because we simply fall in love with its food and became a regular customer.

However in this episode, we explored its competitor locavore, another highly regarded restaurant rececommended by our subscribers. The first impression as we walked in gave off a mid- high class restaurant vibe, however the prices were reasonably affordable and the dishes felt like an elevate version of home cooking. Here we tried their signature sizzling Sinigang and Oyster Sisg, we were both mind blown as they were incredibly tasty.

Saw you both a while ago in Shangrila Mall. You guys look cute together. Also look better and younger in person :) I should have said hi.

But Locavore has some really fancy or avant-garde takes on some Filipino food like that sizzling sinigang and the deconstructed Kare-kare (another dish with thick peanut soup/sauce). Not your every day kinda Filipino food. But I like to eat there too sometimes.

I stayed in that same building in 2019, but never made it to that restaurant, maybe next time. Have you mentioned which condo you picked after all the viewing videos? Curious as to which one you decided on.

Yup, you're right when you guys decide to make sinigang don't use the powder stuff. Go get some fresh Sampaloc or kamyas to sour the soup.

Filipino ulam or food has strong flavour that's why it's eaten with rice. It's very unfilipino to eat meat or seafood as is, without rice,

sisig doesnt necessarily mean it's sizzling/served on a hot plate. sisig originally meant "to make something sour", the og version was just soaking things in vinegar. the more contemporary version is is boiling, grilling, and frying pork but it doesn't necessarily have to be, it just needs to match the look of sisig lol (aka. hella chopped)
