Luis Bacalov & Rocky Roberts - Django (Main Theme) (2025 Mono Mix)

Показать описание
I'm surprised nothing like this has been done before for this song.
After first hearing this track as part of the Django Unchained (2012) OST, I wanted to obtain a better sounding mix of this song, as the mix itself on the OST sounds quite.. ass.
However, it seems that all masterings (of the 1966 OST of Django) share the same "fake stereo with heavy reverb" source, with only the 1992 CD pressing being the least processed sounding (to these ears at least).
I also found bonus tracks from a "complete edition" CD that turn out to be various instrumental versions of the main theme, which turned out to be real mono mixes (tho they're clearly transferred using a stereo tape head, so they have tracking problems).
So I took the liberty of remixing the track myself and produce a new, cleaner mono mix. This was done by taking the two different instrumentals (De-Quantized to 32 Bit) and aligning them back to mono (via iZotope's Azimuth Correction, with automatic/adaptive corrections on). The tracks are then repaired of any tape dropouts before being fully mixed down to mono.
And then this vocal track is speed-matched with the newly produced instrumental, and further mixed accordingly (using existing mono mixes of various songs as reference).
I could've made this fully stereo (using a stereo version of the Italian mix), but I believe this song shines better in mono.
No longer drenched in reverb, this new mix is a lot more natural and livelier compared to the pseudo-stereo original, with the overall sound quality being its biggest improvement.
All rights reserved to Luis Bacalov.
I do not own any of this music
