I'm so glad that you noted how they are too pretty to kill or harm.. Many people think they are carp and leave them for dead. We have a long lived fish native to our waters that have been with us for generations and we should appreciate them.

I was bass fishing in a small canal that comes off the trinity here in Dallas yesterday and must've seen around 10 or so up feeding off the angled brick wall that made up the bank over about a 100yrd span. If I was able see/accidently spook that many off the bank I imagine the that section must be filled to the brim with ones I couldn't see. They're a super cool fish and I've never caught one before. Hopefully with this information I'll be able to catch a few next time I get a chance.

I use range cubes in Illinois River
I catch commons & grass carp
Shockingly haven’t caught any buffs with cubes
I did catch a buff with halibut pellets
