Today, you’ll learn how to setup an A/B Test using VWO.

Here’s one of our landing pages. We are going to create variations of this to AB test.

I want to test a different headline and also make the CTA button bigger to get more users to sign up for our free trial.

Lets get started. From your VWO dashboard click Create to start a new campaign. Select A/B test and click Next.

Lets enter the URL that we are going to test. Click Next to open up the visual editor.

In the visual editor, Select the element that you want to change.
Lets change the headline first.

Clicking on any element opens up the Tools Menu. I am going to click on ‘change text’ to change the headline.

You’ll notice that as soon as you make a change, VWO automatically creates a variation. Control is always your original page.

In this example, Variation 1 will contain all the changes.

Now, lets make the CTA bigger. [pause] Click on the CTA button and select Resize.

After making all the changes, we need to define goals for the campaign.

My goals will be the number of clicks on my CTA button and total number of clicks on the entire page.

We’ll setup the first goal using the visual editor and the second in the Conversions Goal panel. To track clicks on the CTA button, click on the CTA element and select Track Clicks.

Select ‘Track Clicks on the link’. Once you’re done, click next.

The ‘Create Conversion Goals’ panel shows up.

To create my second goal, I will select ‘track engagement’ that will track every click on my landing page.

Click next to finalize your campaign.

I am going to name my campaign, My first AB Test. The heatmap is automatically enabled for both control and variation. The test will run on 100% of the traffic.

Click next.

The campaign is almost ready to go. I just need to install the VWO Code on my webpage.

You can send the VWO code directly to your developer and he can install it for you.

I will install the code myself. I just need to copy the code, go to the HTML of my webpage and paste it between the head tags.

Select ‘Check’ to make sure that the code is installed properly.

Everything seems to be in place. Click Start Campaign.

Congratulations! You’ve setup your first A/B Test!

You can keep a tab on your campaign by managing it under the Campaigns Tab. Access it anytime to track reports, change settings and much more.

I hope this video was helpful for you. Happy testing!

If the web that I want to test has a javascript to show a pop up and I want to do A/B testing to test whether the pop leads to more conversion or not, can VWO kills the javascript event?
