Omg ffs of someone reads an unexpected racism, what happens, exactly? Utter incapacitation?
Don’t you think adults, even young adults, can and should realize the book is from the ‘30s and consider it accordingly?
I gotta ask — and I really hope you see this somehow and actually think about this question — how did all those thousands of people through all the decades between 1939 and today read Chandler with no ill effect?
Here’s my theory: because books can’t hurt you.
I wouldn’t bother typing this comment if you didn’t strike me as a reasonable person.
