I have the Xperia 1ii had it since launch and I adore it, I really hope Sony can start generating some interest this year because I think they've done an excellent job with their phone line up this year.

Oh, I've bought this phone out of true necessity, I need a backup camera for my “all Sony @“ setup for interviews, live show filming etc. I wasn't expecting too much more than a well known menus and Sony colors out of the bat, but I ended up ditching all presets and grading like Venice, off with all that and the videos came out great. Sony AF as pristine as it can get and combined with manual WB, even the 70mm footage turned out good. With the 24mm and 4K 120 it's a slowmo heaven, really. I put the camera on a gimbal, let it grab the people walking by while preparing for the shoot, and then when everything started I let it glide on a slider back and forth in that slowmo. That was great. So, my conclusion is that I've got more than I asked for ... thanks

I have been using my Xperia 5 II for a week and a half now and I must say that I absolutely love it. I found it on discount for 699€ and for that price it feels like an amazing deal. There's a lot of phone for the money. I especially like the form factor, its amazing screen and the great camera with good software (if you are willing to learn it). I can easily use it with one hand if I want which is something I do regularly. The phone is very slippery tho and the camera comes out a little so it doesn't sit flat on a table which can often be annoying. I found myself a great premium case, which solves both of those problems though and now it feels like a perfect phone for my usage.

It's a pretty awesome camera. Shoot RAW and edit in LR can yield really excellent results. Sensor tends to oversaturated yellow. It's a fantastic phone all round.

Honestly I have to say I wait for your camera reviews more than anything else before I decide to buy a phone. Don't care much for DXOMark or others, yours is the real deal. Great video as per the usual.

I did buy it after finding an unbeatable deal for it! This thing, as you said, is an amazing experience, even without taking into account the cameras. It flies through everything and the 120Hz display makes that even more apparent. Furthermore, the battery life seems fantastic so far (I say seems because due to lockdowns/reduced movement I haven't checked it out with a lot of mixed usage). The cameras are just a great bonus that I'd like to experiment more on, since I'm not very experienced with it, but I'd like to learn more. Also, the 5II has great build quality, a great screen, very good speakers that are front facing and even a headphone jack. This phones ticks most -if not all- the boxes.

For an 8 MP camera that front one really was not terrible. I had Xperias in the past and they were usually good. The only reason I don't buy them new is that the price can seem awfully high! I have an XZ Premium and it is really good for just 19 MP. It also has predictive autofocus. This is nice because if it detects movement while you attempt to take a shot it discreetly takes a couple more that may have came out better. I also like how it does it without interrupting the next photo you take to notify you or ask you which to keep. You can do that later from the album app.

This is hilarious..you can choose your settings for lets say point and shoot street photography. Save them...Then when you shoot just choose your saved setting name boom you are off and running..not hard at all

First of all thanks for your test.
In my opinion it is that device what the most of us was waiting for: perfect body ratio, feels very good in your hand, usable with one hand, not only the speaker, the mics, yes mics, it has to of them next to the speaker are sensational, colors are great, battery life one of the best although 120 MHz and this....120mhz, its fantastic for everything !!!! The only thing i miss is an update for the cams, they have such a great potential, in my opinion it is an software issue. Everything else is unique, especially the mics, take a video with the normal cam app and talk to the mics while recording and listen to the sound with headphones you ll be surprised.
