Magic Mask 2.0 in Davinci Resolve 20 Beta 1 is NUTS!

Today, I'm going to show you the ins and outs - and gotchas of using Davinci Resolve Studio 20's Magic Mask 2.0 feature! It's one of the AI features introduced in DR20 Beta 1... so it's not 100% there, but it's close!

I'll also show you how to use the Legacy Magic Mask feature, in case AI Magic Mask doesn't work well for you.

To be clear: this is a Studio-only feature. Free versions of Davinci Resolve do not have this feature.

Remember: as of this recording, Davinci Resolve 20 is still in Beta. There will be plenty of bug fixes and changes before the final release - and I'll be there to test it out when that happens... but this thing is SLICK!

Magic mask 2 is so great. I do a lot of 3D CG work and sometimes I use cryptomattes, but as I do most the work myself this is a really valuable time saver!

I have a Nvidia 2070 super GPU😊 & get about 4fps in 1080p timeline, but the footage is 6k.

Magic Mask in the color tab is a dumpster fire. If you so much as look at it wrong it loses everything that was tracked and you need to start all over again. If you have several clips, all of those need to be tracked individually also, can't just hit a button to do it all in the background. If you clear your cache, guess what, MM needs to be retracked yet again. It's great on paper, but terrible in actual use. There have been many forum posts about this. Also the performance could be better. On 4K footage I'm getting 6-8 fps on an RTX 3060 GPU. Yeah, I know., it's not a 4090 or 5090, but good luck finding one that's not way overpriced.

I'm trying to make a text behind subject scene. Everything looks great on timeline but when it comes to render text appears on subject, anyone with a solution? Tried a couple of compound things but it didn't help...

Is this in the free version now? If not, the title of the video is misleading. Should say STUDIO.
