Hello, this might be stupid question but do I need actual Thunderbolt 3 cable between mac and dock for displays/usb to work? I've connected with just usb-c cable and charging works but I can't get my mouse to work.

Hey BsianDad! After watching some of your videos on the Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 docks I decided to pick one up myself, because it isn't a problem for me that I can't connect as many displays as with some other docks (I only use 1 4k 60Hz display). I was able to get the dock for a great price, but now that I have it, I can't get it to work properly. When connected to my Mac the external display flashes/glitches black every 5-10seconds which is really annoying. Any ideas how to fix that? Power supply works, and I tried both HDMI and DisplayPort with several cables, so I am sure that it is the dock.
I would be very grateful if you could help!
Edit: I am using a 2019 16" MacBook Pro

This video misses every important points using MacBook with thinkpad thunderbolt 3 dock:


1. you cannot use two external displays with ports back
2. you only can use ethernet connection after installing macOS displaylink driver
3. you cannot adjust volume of audio connected with 3.5pi jack in the dock

need some help here. my son spilled coffee on his mac book air m1. luckily the laptop is fully functional except for keyboard and trackpad. Apple support asked me to use the mac book as long as it works with external docking station. just wanted to know if Gen 1 thinkpad is compatible with mac book air M1 for single monitor. Thanks for your reviews, BsianDad! We have been trying to find a solution for our set up for a few days now. I have purchased a Lenovo P1 gen 2 and my wife has a 13" Macbook pro (W/ touchbar). Based on the previous comments, it appears the Macbook pro requires a set of DisplayLink drivers to get around mirroring the display. Is this correct? Also, if the Macbook lid is closed, will the system be able to be awoken and operate the displays to the full capabilities of the docking station (ie dual 4k 60Hz)? Thanks again!

What is the model no of this? I have a 13inch 2018 macbook pro and a 2019 Lenovo x390. Will this work? i have also 2 Dell 27 (2019) inch with just HDMI and VGA ports. It might work well since it has VGA!... What additional cables I need for either the macbook pro and Lenovo?

I connected macbook pro with 2 monitors, one with VGA and another one with HDMI cable. But I get the same display on 2 monitors. How can I have a different display on each monitor?
