We get the first of three main antagonists in a Disney movie during the Renaissance to not die at the end of the movie. In this movie, Jafar is tricked into becoming a Genie and is trapped in his own magic lamp. In 1995’s Pocahontas, Governor Radcliffe’s crew turns on him after he shoots John Smith and sends him back home as a prisoner. In 1997’s Hercules, Hades is punched by the title character into a pool of souls who drag him down, but it is assumed he survived due to his immortality.

Somehow Hades surviving that is worse as his soul is trapped with those miserable and tormented shades for the rest of eternity...

Hades is actually in myth not a bad guy. He instead helps souls instead of keeping them.

Hades not dying is a worse fate since the souls he managed are all over him making him hard to escape

Phil: Did you kill him?
Hercules: No, I sent him back to hell.
Phil: Isn't that worse?

Let's not forget Yzma turned into a cat at the end of Emperor's New Groove, then survived being fed to birds in Kronk's New Groove.

I was born in May 1991. As much as I "loved" these movies as a mindless toddler, I was honestly too young to truly "appreciate" or understand the release of these movies, I just realized. But this must have been a phenomenal experience for those 10+, to see a huge beautifully animated epic on the big screen, one year after another, and just as soon as the 90s started. This was when Disney has become an exciting yearly event. This must have left people wondering what they'll bring next, only to be amazingly surprised by their next movie.

At the end of Herclules’ credits, we hear Hades complain about being trapped in the River. Breaking the fourth wall and asking if anyone can hear him.

Disney's Pocohontas Debunked

Pocohontas was only 10yrs old when she met John Smith- her design for the movie was based on a British supermodel

Pocohontas never actually saved John Smith from being attacked by her father because he was never really attacked- John Smith made up stories to sell books

Pocahontas's father and the other natives actually treated the English nicely, even shared their food with them.

When Pocohontas was in her early 20s she was in a relationship with Kocoum, which Disney painted as a bad guy

When the Natives ran out of food during winter- the English settlers became violent, burnt the village to the ground, and Pocohontas was abducted and taken to England

Pocohontas was married to John Rolfe, a tobacco dealer who used their marriage and their son to sell the idea of investments in english settlements in America

Pocohontas died at the age of 26 and never saw her family again :(

I wish Disney would go back to Aladdin's animation style but that's way to much to ask for

Also fun about the way Aladdin defeats jafar is that he does so with nothing but his wits, which he’s picked up being on the streets and is just part of his personality as Aladdin. Jafar, on the other hand, has spent all his time trying to become more and more powerful. Think about it, he was already the advisor for the sultan, and basically controlled everything as he was able to mind control the sultan. He just wasn’t satisfied though, and kept wanting more. And then Aladdin doesn’t out power him like the hero in so many other stories, but out-wits him. Very nice.
